Today we celebrate our 77th National Independence Day with the hope of a new freedom. We have now entered a new path with a people’s government that has transformed the history of Sri Lanka and built it together with all the people of the North, East, West and South. We are all currently grappling with the challenge of rebuilding a rich country – a beautiful life that we lost and missed in the last century.
We must elevate our country to a new level for the sake of our future generations. That was the aspiration of all the heroes of history who fought with blood and tears. Accordingly, individually and collectively, we must build a modern Sri Lankan nation that is developed along social, environmental and ethical lines as a unified system.
As the new government, in the past four months, we have fundamentally stabilized the country on a strong economic foundation, practiced a new political culture, committed ourselves to a new ideal of politics and the politician, guided the people and enforced the law to view and treat others with equality, respect and compassion without racism and religious fanaticism, marked the policy and practical approach to achieving our main objective of eradicating rural poverty, established welfare mechanisms that ensure access to essential social groups so that no vulnerable and vulnerable citizen is left behind, took the necessary first steps to digitize the economy to achieve the innovative scientific and technological advances that we have missed, discarded the preconceived notion of a country with corrupt rulers and re-established ourselves before the international community as a country with a non-aligned foreign policy that can deal more reliably with all countries and nations of the world. Our attention was focused on the task of branding Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the people’s government, which was built by the general public of this country, amidst a thousand slanders and obstacles of the corrupt political regime, is gradually but steadily moving forward. As promised, today we have succeeded in taking Sri Lanka to an era of national renaissance. Accordingly, what is now left is to systematically carry forward the most creative task in history with unwavering confidence, on the basis of the above, to realize the dream we have seen for centuries. For this, I invite all Sri Lankan people to rally stronger and more confidently, to join the task of building a modern paradigm of freedom, and to join the collective initiative for the era of renaissance, on this occasion of celebrating the 77th National Independence Day.

ගරු ජනපතිතුමාගේ නිදහස් දින පණිවුඩය
අද දින අප 77 වන ජාතික නිදහස් දිනය සමරන්නේ අලුත් නිදහසක් පිළිබඳ වූ බලාපොරොත්තු හද දරමිනි. ශ්රී ලංකා ඉතිහාසය ප්රවර්තනය කරමින් උතුර, නැගෙනහිර, බටහිර, දකුණ සියලු ජනතාව එක් ව ගොඩනැඟූ මහජනතාවගේ ආණ්ඩුවක් සමඟ අප මේ වන විට අලුත් මඟකට පිවිස ඇත. පසුගිය සියවසේ අපට අහිමි වූ සහ අපට මඟහැරුණු පොහොසත් රටක් – ලස්සන ජීවිතයක් යළි ගොඩනඟා ගැනීමේ අභියෝගය සමඟ අපි සැමදෙනා මේ වන විට සාමුහිකව පොරබදමින් සිටිමු.
අපගේ අනාගත පරපුර උදෙසා අප දේශය නව ස්ථරයක් වෙත ඔසවා තැබිය යුතුය. රුහිරෙන් කඳුලින් අරගල කළ ඉතිහාසයේ සියලු විරුවන්ගේ කැපකිරීම්වල අපේක්ෂාව වූයේ ද එයයි. ඒ අනුව පුද්ගලිකවත් සාමූහිකවත් අප ඒකීය පද්ධතියක් ලෙස සමාජීය, පාරිසරික හා ආචාරධාර්මික මං ඔස්සේ සංවර්ධිත නූතන ශ්රී ලාංකික ජාතිය ගොඩනැඟිය යුතුය.
නව රජය ලෙස එහිදී පසුගිය මාස හතර තුළ මූලික වශයෙන් සවිමත් ආර්ථිකමය පදනමක් මත රට ස්ථාවර කිරීම, නව දේශපාලන සංස්කෘතියක් අභ්යාස කරමින්, දේශපාලනය හා දේශපාලනඥයා පිළිබඳ වූ නව පරමාදර්ශයක් වෙනුවෙන් කැපවීම, ජාතිවාදයෙන් හා ආගම්වාදයෙන් තොරව අනෙකා දෙස සමානාත්මතාවෙන්, ගෞරවනීය හා සහකම්පනීය ලෙස බැලීම හා සැලකීම කෙරෙහි ජනතාව මෙහෙය වීම හා නීති බල ගැන්වීම, ග්රාමීය දුප්පත්කම තුරන් කිරීමේ අපගේ මුඛ්ය පරමාර්ථ සාධනය කර ගැනීම සඳහා වූ ප්රතිපත්තිමය හා ක්රියාකාරී එළැඹුම සනිටුහන් කරමින්, අවදානමට ලක් වූ හා ලක් විය හැකි කිසිඳු පුරවැසියෙක් මඟ නොහැරෙන පරිදි අත්යවශ්ය සමාජ කණ්ඩායම් වෙත ප්රවේශය සහතික කරන සුබසාධන යාන්ත්රණ සැකසීම, අපට මඟහැරුණු නව්ය විද්යා හා තාක්ෂණ දියුණුව අත්පත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා ආර්ථිකය ඩිජිටල්කරණය කිරීමට අවැසි මුල් පියවර තැබීම, දූෂිත පාලකයන් සිටින රටක් ලෙස වූ පූර්ව නිගමනය බැහැර කර ලෝකයේ සියලු රටවල් හා ජාතීන් සමග වඩා විශ්වාසනීය ලෙස ගනුදෙනු කළ හැකි නොබැඳි විදෙස් ප්රතිපත්තියක් සහිත රටක් ලෙස ජාත්යන්තර ප්රජාව ඉදිරියේ යළි ශ්රී ලංකාව සන්නාම ගත කිරීම යන කාර්ය වෙත අපගේ අවධානය යොමු විය.
මේ අනුව පැවැති දූෂිත දේශපාලන තන්ත්රයේ දහසක් අවලාද හා බාධා කිරීම් මැද මෙරට පොදු මහජනතාව එක්ව ගොඩනැඟූ ජනතා රජය ක්රමානුකූලව නමුත්, ස්ථාවරව ඉදිරියට යමින් සිටී. අපගේ පොරොන්දුව පරිදිම අද වන විට අප ජාතික පුනරුද යුගයක් වෙත ශ්රී ලංකාව කැඳවා යාමට මේ වන විට සමත්ව සිටිමු. ඒ අනුව දැන් ඇත්තේ ඉහත කී පදනම මත ක්රමානුකූලව සියවස් ගණනක් අප දුටු සිහිනය සැබෑ කරගැනීම පිළිබඳ වූ ඉතිහාසයේ වඩා නිර්මාණශීලීම කාර්යය නොසැලෙන විශ්වාසයෙන් යුතුව ඉදිරියට රැගෙන යාමයි. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් සියලු ශ්රී ලාංකික ජනතාව වඩා ශක්තිමත්ව හා විශ්වාසයෙන් යුතුව පෙළගැසෙන ලෙසත්, නිදහස පිළිබඳ වූ නූතන සුසමාදර්ශයක් ගොඩනැඟීමේ කාර්යය හා එක්වන ලෙසත්, පුනරුද යුගය සඳහා වන සාමුහික ඇරඹුමට එක්වන ලෙසත්, 77 වන ජාතික නිදහස් දිනය සමරන මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී මුළුමහත් ශ්රී ලාංකික ජනතාවට මම ආරාධනා කර සිටිමි.
