The police have managed to find the 19-year-old daughter of a businessman from Daulagala who was abducted in a van in the Gelimbaya area of Gampola the day before yesterday morning.
It was at the Ampara bus stand.
The police stated that the suspect who was with her was also arrested there.
After abducting the student, the suspect took three three-wheelers at several places and took her to the Ampara area.
The police stated that this morning, the suspect told the student that he would drop her back home and boarded a bus bound for Kandy at the Ampara bus stand, where he threatened her to remain silent.
The girl was on her way to Daulagala town with a friend to attend a private Advanced Level class when a group of people who arrived in a black van carried out the kidnapping at around 7.15 am the day before yesterday.
However, at the time of the kidnapping, it was reported that she was abducted by her boyfriend, but investigations have revealed that her long-lost brother-in-law had carried out the kidnapping with the intention of marrying her.
The cousin who kidnapped and held the student had initially demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 million, which he later reduced to Rs. 3 million.
The police stated that the abducted student is to be sent for a medical examination.

එහිදී ඇය සමඟ සිටි සැකකරු ද අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බව පොලිසිය සඳහන් කළා.
මෙම සැකකරු අදාල සිසුවිය පැහැර ගැනීමෙන් අනතුරුව ත්රිරෝද රථ තුනක් ස්ථාන කිහිපයකදී මාරු වෙමින් ඇයව අම්පාර ප්රදේශයට රැගෙන විත් තිබෙනවා.
පොලිසිය සඳහන් කළේ, එහිදී අද උදෑසන අදාළ සැකකරු විසින් මෙම සිසුවියට ඇයව නිවෙස වෙත නැවත ඇරලවන බව පවසා අම්පාර බස් නැවතුපොලට පැමිණ නුවර බලා ධාවනය වීමට නියමිත බස් රථයකට ගොඩවී ඇති අතර, එහිදී ඇයට නිහඬව සිටින ලෙසට තර්ජනය කර ඇති බවයි.
උසස් පෙළ පෞද්ගලික පංතියකට සහභාගි වීම සඳහා යෙහෙළියක සමඟ දවුලගල නගරයට යමින් සිටිය දී කළු පැහැති වෑන් රථයකින් පැමිණි පිරිසක් පෙරේදා පෙරවරුවේ පෙරවරු 7.15 ට පමණ මෙම පැහැර ගැනීම සිදු කර තිබෙනවා.
කෙසේ වෙතත් මෙම පැහැර ගැනීම සිදුවූ අවස්ථාවේදී ඇයව පෙම්වතා විසින් පැහැරගත් බවට තොරතුරු වාර්තා වූ නමුත් විමර්ශන වලදී අනාවරණය වී ඇත්තේ ඇය විවාහා කර ගැනීමේ අපේක්ෂාවෙන් කලක පටන් පසු වූ මස්සිනා විසින් මෙම පැහැර ගැනීම සිදු කර ඇති බවයි.
සිසුවිය පැහැරගෙන ගොස් රඳවා තබාගෙන සිටින මෙම ඥාති සහෝදරයා මුලින් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 50ක කප්පම් මුදලක් ඉල්ලා තිබෙන අතර පසුව ඔහු එය ලක්ෂ 30 දක්වා අඩු කර තිබෙනවා.
මෙලෙස පැහැර ගැනීමට ලක්වූ සිසුවිය වෛද්ය පරීක්ෂණයක් සඳහා යොමු කිරීමට නියමිත බව පොලිසිය සඳහන් කළා.
