The Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, said that steps have been taken to place the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) under a DIG.
The Minister further said that the division will continue to operate under a Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department.
According to Minister Ananda Wijepala, this step will help streamline and expedite investigations in this regard.
The Financial Crimes Investigation Division, which was established to investigate financial crimes, was inactive in the past.
Minister Ananda Wijepala also said that a cabinet paper will be presented on the 20th regarding several structural changes in the police.
මූල්ය අපරාධ විමර්ශන අංශය(FCID) නියෝජ්ය පොලිස්පතිවරයකු යටතට පත් කිරීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව මහජන ආරක්ෂක හා පාර්ලිමේන්තු කටයුතු ඇමැති ආනන්ද විජේපාල පවසයි.
අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්ය පොලිස්පතිවරයකු යටතේ මෙම අංශය දිගටම ක්රියාත්මක වන බව ඇමතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.
ඇමැති ආනන්ද විජේපාලට අනුව, මෙම පියවර මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් පරීක්ෂණ විධිමත් කිරීමට සහ කඩිනම් කිරීමට උපකාරී වනු ඇත.
මූල්ය අපරාධ විමර්ශනය කිරීම සඳහා පිහිටුවන ලද මූල්ය අපරාධ විමර්ශන අංශය පසුගිය සමයේ අක්රියව පැවතිණි.
පොලිසියේ ව්යුහාත්මක වෙනස්කම් කිහිපයක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ලබන 20 වැනි දින කැබිනට් පත්රිකාවක් ඉදිරිපත් කරන බව ද ඇමැති ආනන්ද විජේපාල පැවසීය.
