Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development R.M. Jayawardena says that it is mandatory for all mill owners and warehouses purchasing paddy during the monsoon season to be registered with the Government Paddy Marketing Board.
Accordingly, he stated that the aim is to create a database on the paddy they purchase and prepare a program through which it is impossible to hide paddy stocks.
The Deputy Minister further stated that the government is implementing the paddy purchasing program with the aim of providing rice without shortages.

මහකන්නයේ වී මිලදී ගන්නා සියලු මෝල් හිමියන් සහ ගබඩාකරුවන් රජයේ වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලයේ ලියාපදිංචි වී තිබීම අනිවාර්යය බව වෙළඳ, වාණිජ, ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා සහ සමූපකාර සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ආර්.එම් ජයවර්ධන පවසනවා.
ඒ අනුව ඔවුන් ලබාගන්නා වී පිළිබද දත්ත පද්ධතියක් නිර්මාණය කර එමගින් වී තොග සඟවා ගැනීමට නොහැකි අයුරින් වැඩපිළිවෙළක් සකස් කිරීම එහි අරමුණ බවයි ඔහු සඳහන් කළේ.
හිඟයකින් තොරව සහල් සැපයීමේ අරමුණින් රජය වී මිලදී ගැනීමේ වැඩපිළිවෙළ ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බවයි නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේ.
