President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is expected to sign MoUs in areas including investment, power sector, fisheries and economy during his four-day official visit to China.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath said that in addition to the MoUs, the main topics to be discussed include China’s support for the IMF’s debt restructuring program and China’s support for economic recovery.
President Dissanayake will pay a state visit to China from January 14 to 17 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, President Dissanayake will hold bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping on a number of areas of mutual interest and will also meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Lijie.
Minister Herath said that the proposed MoUs include sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education and technology.
He also noted that Sri Lanka will seek Chinese assistance in digitizing the State Television Corporation and the Independent Television Network.
The revival of Chinese-funded road development projects will also be discussed.
The MoU on the fisheries sector will cover social welfare aspects, including providing a housing scheme for fishermen, and the government will seek support for the introduction of new technology in agriculture.
The introduction of solar energy projects with Chinese assistance will also be covered in one of the MoUs.
Discussions on the education sector will focus on free school uniforms and a smart wallboard project for schools.
The minister said two business forums will be held, one with state-owned companies including China Harbor and Sinopec, and other companies, including companies in the hotel sector.
The president is also scheduled to visit technology parks and vehicle assembly plants in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, to explore the potential for attracting investment.

මෙම සංචාරයේ දී අන්යෝන්ය වශයෙන් උනන්දුවක් දක්වන ක්ෂේත්ර ගණනාවක් පිළිබඳ ජනාධිපති දිසානායක ජනාධිපති ෂී ජින්පිං සමඟ ද්විපාර්ශ්වික සාකච්ඡා පවත්වන අතර චීන අගමැති ලී කියැං සහ ජාතික මහජන කොංග්රසයේ ස්ථාවර කමිටු සභාපති ෂාඕ ලෙජි ද හමුවනු ඇත.
යෝජිත අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුම්වලට කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය, සංචාරක, අධ්යාපනය සහ තාක්ෂණය වැනි අංශ ද ඇතුළත් වන බව ඇමැති හේරත් මහතා පවසයි.
ශ්රී ලංකාව රාජ්ය රූපවාහිනී සංස්ථාව සහ ස්වාධීන රූපවාහිනී ජාලය ඩිජිටල්කරණය කිරීම සඳහා චීනයේ සහාය ලබා ගන්නා බව ද ඔහු සඳහන් කරයි.
චීන අරමුදල් සහිත මාර්ග සංවර්ධන ව්යාපෘති පුනර්ජීවනය කිරීම ද සාකච්ඡාවට ලක්කෙරෙනු ඇත.
ධීවර අංශය පිළිබඳ අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුම මගින් ධීවරයන් සඳහා නිවාස යෝජනා ක්රමයක් ලබා දීම ඇතුළු සමාජ සුභසාධන අංශ ආවරණය කෙරෙන අතර, කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයේ දී නව තාක්ෂණය හඳුන්වාදීම සඳහා රජය සහාය ලබා ගනු ඇත.
චීන සහාය ඇතිව සූර්ය බලශක්ති ව්යාපෘති හඳුන්වාදීම ද එක් අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුමකින් ආවරණය කෙරේ.
අධ්යාපන අංශය පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡා යටතේ නොමිලේ පාසල් නිල ඇඳුම් රෙදි ලබා ගැනීම සහ පාසල් සඳහා ස්මාර්ට් බිත්ති පුවරු ව්යාපෘතියක් කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කෙරේ.
