Adani Group denies reports that Adani has cancelled its proposed 484 MW wind projects in Mannar and Poonamallee in Sri Lanka.
Issuing an official statement in this regard, a spokesperson said that the reports are false and misleading.
The decision to re-evaluate the tariffs approved by the Sri Lankan Cabinet in May 2024 on 2 January 2025 is a standard review process undertaken by the new government, the statement said, adding that the review is aimed at ensuring alignment with the country’s updated energy policies and priorities.
Adani Group, which stresses that these projects have not been implemented, says it is committed to investing $1 billion in Sri Lanka’s green energy sector.
On the (24th), a number of local and foreign media outlets had reported that these Adani projects in Sri Lanka had been canceled.

2025 ජනවාරි 2 වන දින ශ්රී ලංකා කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලය විසින් 2024 මැයි මාසයේදී අනුමත කරන ලද ගාස්තු, නැවත ඇගයීමට ගත් තීරණය නව රජය විසින් සිදු කරන ලද සම්මත සමාලෝචන ක්රියාවලියක් බවත්, සමාලෝචනය රටේ යාවත්කාලීන කරන ලද බලශක්ති ප්රතිපත්ති සහ ප්රමුඛතා සමග පෙළගැස්වීම සහතික කිරීම අරමුණු කර ගෙන ඇති බවත් ඔවුන් විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද නිවේදනයේ සඳහන් වේ.
මෙම ව්යාපෘති අවංලගු කර නොමැති බවට අවධාරණය කරනු ලබන අදානි සමූහය පවසන්නේ, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ හරිත බලශක්ති අංශයේ ඩොලර් බිලියන 1ක ආයෝජනයක් වෙනුවෙන් සිය කැපවීම අවධාරණය කරනු ලබන බවයි.
