Developed by Realbotix, the robot, named ‘Aria’, was unveiled at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this week and can be purchased for 50 million rupees (US$175,000).
Asked about the goal of developing the robot, Realbotix CEO Andrew Kigwell said his company hopes to create robots that are “indistinguishable from humans” and could also provide a solution to the problem of male loneliness.
“We’re taking this to a level that no one else is doing,” Kigwell told Forbes. “It could be like a romantic partner. It remembers you. It can act as a boyfriend or girlfriend. If you’ve seen the movie ‘Her,’ it’s a bit like that. We’re trying to do that.”
“We think we have the most realistic looking robots in the world,” he said.
Mr. Kiguel pointed out that gait and facial expressions are two key factors in developing a robot.
A video of Aria and her facial expressions went viral on social media, with reactions ranging from interesting to downright horrified at how the technology has transformed.
“I thought it was real at first. And she looks like someone, but I can’t figure out who,” said one user, while another added: “This is crazy.”
