Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara has expressed his views on the conflicting views of the government parties regarding the crash of a Sri Lanka Air Force training aircraft in the Padenaya area of Kurunegala.
He points out that the information received at that moment was presented at that moment and if that information changes later, he will not hesitate to present new factual information about it.
There is no shame in that.
The Minister said this when asked by journalists after a ceremony held in Colombo.
‘We are a government and there are twenty-four ministries. Then one of them presents the subject matter. Then when those subject matters are presented, we have to present our views now with the information known at that moment. Because this is a big process of 24 ministries.
But the policy has not changed. So that’s why we are presenting the most accurate information we know at that moment.
And we have no shame, no embarrassment, if there is a problem with the accuracy of that information, we will intervene very quickly and try to establish that accuracy.
Our government has no hesitation in saying what we don’t know and saying what we do know. So, we make someone’s opinions based on the information available at that moment.

ඒ පිළිබඳ ලැජ්ජාවක් නොමැති බවත්ය.
කොළඹ පැවැති උත්සවයකින් අනතුරුව මාධ්යවේදීන් කළ විමසීමකදී අමාත්යවරයා මේ බව කියා සිටියේය.
‘අපි ආණ්ඩුවක්නේ එතකොට අමාත්යංශ විසි හතරක් තියෙනවා. එතකොට මේක ඇතුලේ එක්කෙනෙක් විෂය කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් වෙනවා. එතකොට ඒ විෂය කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් වෙද්දී ඒ මොහොතේ දන්න තොරතුරු එක්ක තමයි අපිට දැන් අදහස් ඉදිරිපත් කරන්න වෙන්නේ. මොකද මේක අමාත්යංශෙ 24ක ලොකු ක්රියාවලියක්.
හැබැයි ප්රතිපත්තිය වෙනසක් නෑ. ඉතින් ඒක නිසා අපි ඒ මොහොතේ දන්න හොයාගත්ත නිවැරදිම තොරතුරු අපි ඉදිරිපත් කරමින් තියෙනවා.
ඒ වගේම අපි කිසි ලැජ්ජාවක් නෑ අපහසුතාවක් නෑ ඒ තොරතුරුවල නිවැරදිතාවය ගැටලුවක් තියෙනවා නම් අපි ඉතාමත් ඉක්මනින් මැදිහත්වෙලා ඒ නිවැරදිතාවය ගොඩනගන්න හදනවා.
දන්නැති දේ දන්නෑ කියන්නත් දන්න දේ කියන්නත් අපේ ආණ්ඩුව කිසිදු පැකිලීමක් නෑ. ඉතින් ඒ මොහොතේ තියෙන තොරතුරු මත තමයි අපි කවුරු හෝ කෙනෙක්ගේ අදහස් විදියට පත් කරන්නේ’
