A supermarket in Kiribathgoda was fined one million rupees yesterday.
The fine was imposed in connection with an old case filed by Gampaha District Consumer Affairs Authority officers at the Mahara Court regarding the sale of a kilo of local white rice at Rs. 255.
The courts have already imposed fines of more than three million rupees in recent cases against traders who sold rice at high prices.
In addition, the Consumer Affairs Authority has conducted more than 140 raids in recent days regarding the sale of rice at high prices and such raids are continuing throughout the island.

එසේ දඩ නියමකර ඇත්තේ, දේශීය සුදු කැකුළු කිලෝවක් රුපියල් 255 කටඅලෙවි කිරීම සම්බන්ධව ගම්පහ දිස්ත්රික් පාරිභෝගික කටයුතු අධිකාරිය නිලධාරීන් විසින් මහර අධිකරණයේ පරණ ලැබූ නඩුවකට අදාළවය.
සහල් වැඩි මිලට අලෙවි කරනු ලැබූ වෙළඳුන්ට එරෙහිව පසුගිය දිනවල පවරණු ලැබූ නඩු සඳහා අධිකරණ මගින් රුපියල් මිලියන තුනකට වැඩි දඩ මුදල් මේ වනවිට නියම කර තිබේ.
ඊට අමතරව සහල් වැඩිමිවලට අලෙවි කිරීම සම්බන්ධව පාරිභෝගික අධිකාරිය මගින් පසුගිය දිනවල වැටළීම් 140කට වැඩි සංඛ්යාවක් සිදුකර ඇති අතර තවදුරටත් එම වැටළීමි දිවයින පුරා ක්රියාත්මක වේ
