The President visited China from 14 to 17 January 2025 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Dissanayake was received by President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People on 15 January 2025.
The two Presidents held discussions on a wide range of areas, including economic and trade development, investment, tourism, digital transformation, and cooperation in multilateral fora.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations based on sovereign equality and peaceful coexistence.
President Dissanayake also held talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Lijie and discussed areas of cooperation.
During the state visit, the two sides exchanged 15 Memorandums of Understanding.
This includes a joint statement with Sinopec Group for a US$ 3.7 billion export-oriented oil refinery in Hambantota.
President Dissanayake also participated in the “Invest in Sri Lanka” roundtable discussion, which was attended by high-level representatives of Chinese state-owned enterprises and companies.
Addressing the Investment Forum, President Dissanayake outlined the broad vision guiding Sri Lanka’s economic policies and outlined key areas where the business community has the potential and interest to invest in Sri Lanka.
Leading Chinese state-owned enterprises that participated in the forum expressed their interest in bringing new investments to Sri Lanka and expanding existing investment projects, the Presidential Media Division said.
Reportedly, Chinese companies that participated in the investment forum are ready to provide Sri Lanka with investments worth as much as US$ 10 billion in various sectors such as energy, automobile manufacturing and construction.

ආර්ථික හා වෙළඳ වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම, ආයෝජන, සංචාරක, ඩිජිටල් පරිවර්තනය සහ බහුපාර්ශ්වික සංසදවල සහයෝගීතාව ඇතුළු පුළුල් පරාසයක ක්ෂේත්ර පිළිබඳ ජනාධිපතිවරුන් දෙදෙනා සාකච්ඡාවල නිරත වූහ.
ස්වෛරී සමානාත්මතාව සහ සාමකාමී සහජීවනය මත පදනම් වූ ද්විපාර්ශ්වික සබඳතා තවදුරටත් තහවුරු කිරීමට නායකයන් දෙදෙනාම තම කැපවීම තහවුරු කළහ.
ජනාධිපති දිසානායක චීන අගමැති ලී කියැං සහ චීන ජාතික මහජන කොංග්රසයේ ස්ථාවර කමිටුවේ සභාපති ෂාඕ ලෙජි සමඟ ද සාකච්ඡා පැවැත්වූ අතර සහයෝගීතාව ක්ෂේත්ර පිළිබඳව ද සාකච්ඡා කළේය.
රාජ්ය සංචාරය අතරතුර, දෙපාර්ශ්වය විසින් අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුම් 15ක් හුවමාරු කර ගන්නා ලදී.
හම්බන්තොට අපනයන කේන්ද්ර කරගත් අමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 3.7ක වටිනාකමකින් යුතුඛනිජ තෙල් පිරිපහදුවක් සඳහා සිනොපෙක් සමූහය සමඟ ඒකාබද්ධ ප්රකාශයක් ද ඊට ඇතුළත් වේ.
චීන රාජ්ය ව්යවසායන් සහ සමාගම්වල ඉහළ පෙළේ නියෝජිතයන් සහභාගී වූ “Invest in Sri Lanka” වටමේස සාකච්ඡාවට ද ජනාධිපති දිසානායක එක් විය.
ආයෝජන සංසදය අමතමින් ජනාධිපති දිසානායක ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ආර්ථික ප්රතිපත්ති මෙහෙයවන පුළුල් දැක්ම පෙන්වා දුන් අතර ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ආයෝජනය කිරීමට ව්යාපාරික ප්රජාවට හැකියාව ඇති සහ උනන්දුවක් දක්වන ප්රධාන ක්ෂේත්ර සඳහන් කළේය.
