The proposal to increase the benefits for welfare beneficiaries has been approved by the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance.
Accordingly, approval has been given to increase the Rs. 15,000 allowance for extremely poor families to Rs. 17,500, the Rs. 8,500 allowance to Rs. 10,000, the Rs. 2,500 allowance to Rs. 5,000 and the Rs. 5,000 allowance to be maintained unchanged.
