Former President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a clarification regarding a news report reported this morning, which also mentioned the name of one of his children.

Issuing a statement, the former president says that a false news report has been circulated through the media based on a police officer who is not in his security service.

The former president states that there is an attempt to create a wrong opinion among the public about him and his children through that news report.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali yesterday (9) ordered that if there are any other suspects related to the alleged fraud of Rs. 27,660,000 by showing photos of luxury vehicles imported from foreign countries and not cleared, they be arrested and produced before the court immediately.

The order was made when the lawyer representing the suspect stated in court that the person behind this incident was not his client but a security guard of former President Maithripala Sirisena’s daughter, Chathurika Sirisena.

තමාගේ දරුවකුගේ නමද සඳහන් කරමින් අද උදෑසන වාර්තා වූ ප්‍රවෘත්තියක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් හිටපු ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් සිදුකර ඇත.

නිවේදනයක් නිකුත්කරමින් හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා පවසන්නේ, තමාගේ ආරක්ෂක සේවයේ නොමැති පොලිස් නිලධාරියෙක් පදනම් කරගෙන අසත්‍ය ප්‍රවෘත්තියක් ජනමධ්‍ය ඔස්සේ ප්‍රචාරය කර ඇති බවයි.

එම ප්‍රවෘත්තිය ඔස්සේ තමාගේ සහ තම දරුවන් පිළිබඳව ජනතාව තුළ වැරදි මතයක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමේ උත්සාහයක් පවතින බව හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කරයි.

විදේශ රටවලින් ආනයනය කර නිෂ්කාශනය නොකරන ලද සුඛෝපභෝගි වාහනවල ඡායාරූප පෙන්වා සුඛෝපභෝගී මෝටර් රථයක් ලබාදීමට හැකි බව පවසමින් රුපියල් 27,660,000 මුදලක් වංචා කළැයි කියන සිද්ධියට අදාළ තවත් සැකකරුවන් සිටී නම් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන අධිකරණයට වහාම ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලෙස කොළඹ ප්‍රධාන මහේස්ත්‍රාත් තනූජා ලක්මාලි ඊයේ (9) නියෝග කළාය.

මෙම සිද්ධිය පිටුපස සිටින්නේ තම සේවාදායකයා නොව හිටපු ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේනගේ දියණිය වන චතුරිකා සිරිසේනගේ ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරියකු බව සැකකරු වෙනුවෙන් පෙනීසිටි නීතිඥවරයා අධිකරණයේදී ප්‍රකාශ කළ අවස්ථාවේදී මෙලෙස නියෝග කරන ලදි.
