A discussion between the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Attorney General including Attorney General Department officials was held today (06) at the President’s Office.
The President pointed out the importance of all institutions working to implement the law working together.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake further said that it is the responsibility of the Attorney General’s Department to ensure public confidence in the judicial system, that public perceptions of political authority should be changed and confidence should be strengthened, and that public expectations should not be allowed to be dashed.
The President emphasized that as a government, we will not act to dash public expectations, and that we will work to restore the process of administering justice that had been shattered in the minds of the people.
The Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, Attorney General President’s Counsel Parinda Ranasinghe, and a group of officials from the Attorney General’s Department were present at the event.
ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා සහ නීතිපතිවරයා ඇතුළු නීතිපති දෙපාර්තමේන්තු නිලධාරීන් අතර සාකච්ඡාවක් අද (06) ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේදී පැවැත්විණි.
නීතිය පසිඳලීම සඳහා ක්රියා කරන සියලු ආයතන ඒකාබද්ධව කටයුතු කිරීමේ වැදගත්කම ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය කෙරෙහි ජනතාව තුළ ඇති විශ්වාසය තහවුරු කිරීම නීතිපති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ වගකීම බවත්, දේශපාලන අධිකාරීත්වය පිළිබඳව පැවති ජනතා අදහස් වෙනස් කර විශ්වාසය තහවුරු කළ යුතු බවත්, මහජන අපේක්ෂා බිඳ වැටීමට කිසිසේත්ම ඉඩ නොතැබිය යුතු බවත් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.
එසේ මහජන අපේක්ෂා බිඳ වැටීමට රජයක් ලෙස කටයුතු නොකරන බවත්, ජනතාවගේ සිත් තුළ බිඳ වැටී තිබුණු යුක්තිය පසිඳලීමේ ක්රියාවලිය නැවත ප්රතිස්ථාපනය කිරීමට කටයුතු කරන බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.
අධිකරණ හා ජාතික ඒකාබද්ධතා අමාත්ය නීතිඥ හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර මහතාද, මහජන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම් රවී සෙනවිරත්න සහ නීතිපති ජනාධිපති නීතිඥ පාරින්ද රණසිංහ යන මහත්වරු ඇතුළු නීතිපති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ නිලධාරීන් පිරිසක්ද මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක්ව සිටියහ.
