Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says that the problem of children’s absence from A/L classes in schools should be investigated and that no child should miss out on educational opportunities for any reason.
The Prime Minister made these comments while participating in an observation tour of the National Institute of Education in Maharagama.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister drew attention to the trend of declining attendance in A/L classrooms, especially among boys, and noted that a large number of students are dropping out of the education system.
She emphasized that education should be provided to every child without social or economic barriers, ensuring opportunities for higher education from early childhood development to thirteen years of schooling.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of making personal and social transformation a key objective of education.
“Our government is committed to implementing transformative educational changes that will enable children to engage with the modern world and lead the social transformation that people desire. With the aim of shaping responsible citizens, we view every provision for education as an investment in the future of the nation. The National Institute of Education plays a crucial role in this complex and long-term process,” she added.
A /L ළමුන්ගේ පැමිණීම අඩුවීම ගැන අවධානය
පාසල්වල උසස් පෙළ පන්තිවල ළමුන් නොපැමිණීමේ ගැටලුව පිළිබඳ සොයා බැලිය යුතු බවත් කිසිදු ළමයකු කුමන හේතුවක් නිසා හෝ අධ්යාපන අවස්ථා මග හැරිය යුතු නැති බවත් අගමැති ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය පවසයි.
අගමැතිවරිය මෙම අදහස් පළ කළේ මහරගම ජාතික අධ්යාපන ආයතනයේ නිරීක්ෂණ චාරිකාවකට එක්වෙමිනි.
මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී අදහස් දැක්වූ අගමැතිවරිය, උසස් පෙළ පන්තිකාමරවල, විශේෂයෙන්ම පිරිමි ළමුන් පැමිණීම අඩුවීමේ ප්රවණතාව පිළිබඳ අවධානය යොමු කළ අතර, සිසුන් වැඩි සංඛ්යාවක් අධ්යාපන පද්ධතියෙන් ඉවත්වෙමින් පවතින බව සඳහන් කළාය.
මුල් ළමාවිය සංවර්ධනයේ සිට අවුරුදු දහතුනක පාසල් අධ්යාපනය දක්වා උසස් අධ්යාපනයට අවස්ථා සහතික කරමින්, සමාජීය හෝ ආර්ථික බාධකවලින් තොරව සෑම දරුවකුටම අධ්යාපනය ලබාදිය යුතු බව ඇය අවධාරණය කළාය.
පෞද්ගලික සහ සමාජ පරිවර්තනය අධ්යාපනයේ ප්රධාන අරමුණක් බවට පත් කිරීමේ වැදගත්කම ද අගමැතිවරිය අවධාරණය කළාය.
“අපේ රජය කැපවී සිටින්නේ දරුවන්ට නවීන ලෝකය සමඟ සම්බන්ධ වීමට සහ ජනතාව අපේක්ෂා කරන සමාජ පරිවර්තනය මෙහෙයවීමට අවස්ථාව උදාකර දෙන පරිවර්තනීය අධ්යාපනික වෙනස්කම් ක්රියාත්මක කිරීමටයි. වගකිවයුතු පුරවැසියන් හැඩගැස්වීමේ අරමුණ ඇතිව, අධ්යාපනය සඳහා වන සෑම ප්රතිපාදනයක්ම ජාතියේ අනාගතය සඳහා කරන ආයෝජනයක් ලෙස අපි සලකන්නේ. මෙම සංකීර්ණ හා දිගුකාලීන ක්රියාවලියේදී ජාතික අධ්යාපන ආයතනය තීරණාත්මක කාර්යභාරයක් ඉටු කරනවා ” යැයි ද ඇය සඳහන් කළාය.
