The Local Government Election Amendment Bill has been forwarded to the Election Commission.
It was submitted by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
The Election Commission said that the decision taken by the Cabinet to cancel the nominations for the Local Government Election has also been forwarded with it.
Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that the date for the election can be announced after the Local Government Election Act is amended.
He stated that the election date will be announced as soon as those activities are completed.
