The Excise Department’s expected revenue for the year 2024 was Rs. 232 billion and by 2024-11-30, it has managed to collect an excise revenue exceeding Rs. 200 billion.
This revenue was earned as excise duty on alcohol production and as taxes under the Tobacco Tax Act.
The Excise Department says that this is the first time in the 120-year history of the Excise Department that it has managed to collect a revenue exceeding Rs. 200 billion.

මෙම ආදායම මත්පැන් නිෂ්පාදනය මත සුරාබදු වශයෙන් හා දුම්කොළ බදු පනත යටතේ බදු ලෙස උපයාගත් ඒවායි.
සුරාබදු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ වසර 120ක ඉතිහාසය තුළ බිලියන 200ක් ඉක්මවූ ආදායමක් බලා ගැනීමට සමත් වූ ප්රථම අවස්ථාව මෙය බවයි එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පවසන්නේ
