Health officials warn that there is a risk of rat fever spreading in flood-affected areas.
The Epidemiology Unit stated that the districts of Ratnapura, Galle, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Kegalle and Matara have been identified as high-risk areas.
About 10,000 rat fever patients have been reported in the country during the past year.
The Ministry of Health says that between 120 and 200 people die annually due to rat fever.
Health officials point out that rat urine can enter the body through wounds in the body and cause rat fever.
Red eyes, fever, decreased urine output, severe headache and muscle pain are symptoms of dengue fever.
The Ministry of Health advises the public to seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms persist.

මීයන්ගේ මුත්රා ජලයට එක්වී, ශරීරයේ පවතින තුවාල ඔස්සේ විෂබීජ ශරීරගත වී, මී උණ වැළදිය හැකි බව සෞඛ්ය අංශ පෙන්වාදෙයි.
ඇස් රතුවීම, උණ, මුත්රා පිටවන ප්රමාණය අඩුවීම, අධික හිසරදය හා මස්පිඩු වේදනාව, මී උණ රෝගයේ ලක්ෂණ වේ.
එම රෝග ලක්ෂණ පවතින්නේ නම් කඩිනමින් රෝහල්ගත වන්නැයි සෞඛ්ය අමාත්යාංශය ජනතාවට දැනුම්දෙයි.
