The Ministry of Defense says that 2,983 soldiers, including officers, who have deserted from the service of the armed forces have been arrested.
Accordingly, the Ministry states that they were arrested during operations carried out between February 22 and May 30.
It is stated that among the soldiers arrested, 2,261 are from the Army, 194 from the Navy and 198 from the Air Force.
In addition, the Sri Lanka Police has also arrested 330 deserters and officers, the Ministry of Defense further stated.

ත්රිවිධ හමුදා සේවයෙන් පලාගිය නිලධාරීන් ඇතුළු සෙබළුන් 2,983 දෙනෙක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇති බව ආරක්ෂක අමාත්යංශය පවසනවා.
ඒ අනුව පසුගිය පෙබරවාරි 22 වැනිදා සිට මැයි 30 දක්වා කාලය තුළ සිදුකළ මෙහෙයුම්වලදී ඔවුන් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බවයි එම අමාත්යංශය සඳහන් කරන්නේ.
මෙලෙස අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සෙබළුන් අතර යුද හමුදාවේ 2,261ක්, නාවික හමුදාවේ 194ක් හා ගුවන් හමුදාවේ 198ක් සිටින බව සඳහන්.
මීට අමතරව ශ්රී ලංකා පොලීසිය විසින්ද පලාගිය සෙබළුන් හා නිලධාරීන් 330 දෙනෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇති බවයි ආරක්ෂක අමාත්යංශය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේ.
