The first batch of imported salt will arrive in the island next Wednesday, says Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe.
Addressing a media briefing held yesterday(19), the Minister stated that the import of salt has been necessitated due to the failure to receive the expected salt harvest in May.
A stock of 30,000 metric tons of salt has been imported for the industrial sector, and that stock will arrive in the island tomorrow (20), and that there is a situation where that stock is also insufficient, he stated.
Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe further stated that the opportunity to import salt will be available until June 10, and that it is expected to bring between 40,000 – 50,000 metric tons of salt during that period.
ආනයනය කළ පළමු ලුණු තොගය බදාදා දිවයිනට පැමිණෙනවා – වෙළඳ ඇමති
ආනයනය කරන ලද ලුණු තොගයෙහි පළමු කොටස ලබන බදාදා දිවයිනට පැමිණෙන බව වෙළඳ අමාත්ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ පවසනවා.
මැයි මාසයේදී ද බලාපොරොත්තු වූ ලුණු අස්වැන්න නොලැබිම හේතුවෙන් මෙලෙස ලුණු ආනයනයට සිදුව ඇති බවයි ඉයේ (19) පැවති මාධ්ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් අමාත්යවරයා සඳහන් කළේ.
කර්මාන්ත අංශය සඳහා මෙට්රික් ටොන් 30,000 ක ලුණු තොගයක් ආනයනය කර ඇති අතර, එම තොගය හෙට (20) දිවයිනට පැමිණෙන බවත්, එම තොගය ද ප්රමාණවත් නොවන තත්ත්වයක් මතුව ඇති බවත් ඔහු ප්රකාශ කළා.
ජුනි 10 වැනිදා දක්වා ලුණු ආනයනයට අවස්ථාව හිමිවන බවත්, එම කාලය තුළ ලුණු මෙට්රික් ටොන් 40,000 – 50,000 අතර ප්රමාණයක් ගෙන ඒමට අපේක්ෂා කරන බවයි වෙළඳ අමාත්ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කර සිටියේ.
