The 16th National War Heroes Day Celebrations will be held at the National War Heroes Memorial in Kotte, Sri Jayewardenepura, tomorrow (19) at 4 pm under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who led the tri-forces when terrorism was ended, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force Roshan Gunathilaka will also participate in the event.
In conjunction with the National War Heroes Day Celebrations, a series of community welfare programs are also scheduled to be held islandwide with the participation of the tri-forces, the Police Department and the Civil Security Department.
The War Heroes Day celebration will be attended by guests, military officers and family members of the war heroes, who will pay floral tributes and pay their respects to the War Heroes Memorial and pay their respects in accordance with military tradition.
The purpose of this National War Heroes Day celebration is to express the gratitude and respect of the entire nation to the war heroes who fought with their lives to ensure the sovereignty and national security of the country.

16 වන ජාතික රණවිරු සැමරුම් උත්සවය ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර කෝට්ටේ ජාතික රණවිරු අනුස්මරණ ස්මාරකය අසලදී ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායකගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් හෙට (19) පස්වරු 4ට පැවැත්වේ.
ත්රස්තවාදය අවසන් කරන විට ත්රිවිධ හමුදාවට නායකත්වය දුන් ෆීල්ඩ් මාර්ෂල් සරත් ෆොන්සේකා, අද්මිරාල් ඔෆ් ද ෆ්ලිට් වසන්ත කරන්නාගොඩ සහ මාර්ෂල් ඔෆ් ද ශ්රී ලංකා එයාර් ෆොස් රොෂාන් ගුණතිලක මහත්වරුද මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වෙති.
ජාතික රණවිරු දින සැමරුම් උත්සවයට සමගාමීව ත්රිවිධ හමුදාවේ, පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ හා සිවිල් ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ දායකත්වයෙන් දිවයින පුරා ප්රජා සුඛසාන වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් ද පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතය.
රණවිරු උළෙලේදී ආරාධිතයින් , හමුදා නිලධාරීන් සහ රණවිරු පවුල් වල සාමාජිකයන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් රණවිරු ස්මාරකයට පුෂ්පෝපහාර හා ගෞරව දැක්වීම සහ හමුදා සම්ප්රදායානුකූලව ගරු බුහුමන් දැක්වීම මෙහිදී සිදු කෙරේ.
මෙම ජාතික රණවිරු දින සැමරුමේ අරමුණ වන්නේ දේශයේ ස්වෛරීභාවය සහ ජාතික ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා දිවි හිමියෙන් සටන් කළ රණවිරුවන් සඳහා සමස්ත ජාතියේ කෘතඥතාව සහ ගෞරවය පිරිනැමීමයි.
