Former Minister Johnston Fernando has been appointed as the new head of operations of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
The General Secretary of the party, Sagara Kariyawasam, stated that this decision was taken at the political council meeting held yesterday.
In addition, a committee was also appointed under the chairmanship of former Minister Gamini Lokuge to prepare the necessary criteria for the nomination of members for local government institutions.
