President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that the decision taken by India and Pakistan to enter into a ceasefire is the first and foremost step towards achieving sustainable peace and regional stability.
The President made this statement while issuing a message regarding the Pakistan-India ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump announced yesterday (10) that Pakistan and India have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire.
Accordingly, India and Pakistan have agreed to suspend all military actions.
Military analysts are of the opinion that regional stability will be restored with both sides agreeing to a ceasefire.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan is not only a crucial agreement to save innocent lives on both sides but also a first step towards achieving sustainable peace and regional stability.
The President said that the leaders of India and Pakistan have shown their wisdom and diplomatic skills by deciding to use words instead of bullets to resolve the crisis before a major disaster could occur.
As a close neighbor and friend of India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka hopes that the ceasefire agreement will be a major step towards resolving long-standing issues peacefully.
Sri Lanka supports the ongoing dialogue between the two countries and is ready to make any necessary contribution to achieving regional peace at this very moment, the President has emphasized in his statement.

ඉන්දියාව හා පාකිස්තානය සටන් විරාමයකට පැමිණීමට ගත් තීරණය තිරසර සාමය හා කලාපීය ස්ථාවරත්වය අත්කර ගැනීමේ පළමු සහ ප්රමුඛ පියවරක් බව ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා පවසනවා.
පාකිස්තාන ඉන්දියාව සටන් විරාමය සම්බන්ධයෙන් පණිවුඩයක් නිකුත් කරමිනුයි ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කරන්නේ.
පාකිස්තානය සහ ඉන්දියාව පූර්ණ හා ක්ෂණික සටන් විරාමයක් සඳහා එකඟ වූ බව ඇමෙරිකා ජනාධිපති ඩොනල්ඩ් ට්රම්ප් ඊයේ (10) නිවේදනය කළා.
ඒ අනුව සියලුම යුදමය ක්රියාමාර්ග අත්හිටුවීමට ඉන්දියාව හා පාකිස්තානය එකඟත්වය පළකළා.
දෙපාර්ශ්වයම සටන් විරාමයකට එකඟත්වය පළ කිරීමත් සමග කලාපීය ස්ථාවරත්වය යළි ගොඩනැගෙනු ඇති බවට යුද විශ්ලේෂකයින් මත පළකරනවා.
සටන් විරාමයක් සඳහා ඉන්දියාව සහ පාකිස්තානය එකඟවීම දෙපාර්ශ්වයේ අහිංසක ජීවිත ගලවා ගැනීම සඳහා ඇති තීරණාත්මක එකඟතාවක් පමණක් නොව තිරසර සාමය සහ කලාපීය ස්ථාවරත්වය අත්කර ගැනීමේ පළමු පියවරක් බවයි ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ.
අතිමහත් වූ ව්යසනයක් ඇතිවීමට පෙර ඉන්දියාවේ සහ පාකිස්තානයේ නායකයින් අර්බුදය විසදා ගැනීම සඳහා වෙඩි උණ්ඩ වෙනුවට වචන යොදා ගැනීමට තීරණය කිරීම තුළින් ඔවුන්ගේ ප්රඥාව සහ රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රික කුසලතාව පෙන්නුම් කරන බවයි ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කරන්නේ.
ඉන්දියාවේ සහ පාකිස්තානයේ සමීපතම අසල්වැසියෙකු හා මිතුරෙකු ලෙස ශ්රී ලංකාව බලාපොරොත්තු වන්නේ සටන් විරාම එකඟතාව දිගුකාලීන ප්රශ්න සාමකාමීව විසදා ගැනීමට තුඩුදෙන ප්රමුඛ පියවරක් වනු ඇති බවයි.
දෙරටේ අඛණ්ඩ සංවාදයට ශ්රී ලංකාව සහාය දෙන අතර කලාපීය සාමය මෙම යුගයේදීම අත්කර ගැනීම සදහා අවශ්ය ඕනෑම දායකත්වයක් ලබාදීමට සූදානම් බවද ජනාධිපතිවරයා සිය නිවේදනයෙන් අවධාරණය කර තිබෙනවා.
