The National Vesak Week will begin tomorrow (10).
Secretary to the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, W.P. Senadheera stated that it will continue until the 16th.
The theme of this year’s National Vesak Week is “Let’s keep in touch with old friends.”
The inaugural ceremony is scheduled to be held tomorrow afternoon at the Nuwara Eliya Buddhist Center under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Liquor stores and meat shops in the island will be closed for three days during the Vesak week.
Meanwhile, the Railway Department says that special train services will be operating from today for the State Vesak Festival held in Nuwara Eliya and for devotees traveling to Anuradhapura.
The special train services will be operating until the 13th.

ජාතික වෙසක් සතිය හෙටින් (10) ආරම්භ වනවා.
බුද්ධ ශාසන ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම් ඩබ්ලිව්.පී සේනාධීර මහතා සඳහන් කළේ එය ලබන 16 වැනිදා දක්වා ක්රියාත්මක බවයි.
කළණ මිතුරන් ඇසුරු කරමු යන්න මෙවර ජාතික වෙසක් සතියේ තේමාව වනවා.
සමාරම්භක උත්සවය හෙට පස්වරුවේ ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් නුවර එළිය බෞද්ධ මධ්යස්ථානයේදී පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතයි.
වෙසක් සතියේ දින තුනක් දිවයිනේ සුරාසැල් හා මස් අලෙවි සැල් වසා තැබෙනවා.
මේ අතර, නුවරඑළියේ පැවැත්වෙන රාජ්ය වෙසක් උත්සවය හා අනුරාධපුරය දක්වා යන සැදැහැවතුන් වෙනුවෙන් අද සිට විශේෂ දුම්රිය සේවා ක්රියාත්මක බව දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පවසනවා.
ලබන 13 වැනිදා දක්වා එම විශේෂ දුම්රිය සේවා ක්රියාත්මකයි.
