A group of senior officials from the European Union is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (28).
The Ministry of Foreign Employment and Tourism stated that the group of officials is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka to review Sri Lanka’s progress in implementing 27 international agreements on the EU’s GSP+ tax concession or Generalized System of Preferences.
The group of senior officials from the European Union who are visiting the island are scheduled to remain in the country until May 7th.
They are scheduled to hold discussions with politicians, government officials, civil society and a number of trade unions.
The Ministry of Foreign Employment and Tourism stated that the European Union is the second largest export destination in Sri Lanka, with exports of US$ 3 billion in 2024.

යුරෝපා සංගමයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන් කණ්ඩායමක් අද (28) මෙරටට පැමිණීමට නියමිතයි.
යුරෝපා සංගමයේ GSP+ බදු සහනය හෙවත් සාමාන්‍යකරණය කළ මනාප යෝජනා ක්‍රමය පිළිබඳව ජාත්‍යන්තර සම්මුතීන් 27 ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේ දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රගතිය සමාලෝචනය කිරීම සඳහා එම නිලධාරීන් කණ්ඩායම මෙරටට පැමිණීමට නියමිත බව විදේශ රැකියා සහ සංචාරක අමාත්‍යාංශය සඳහන් කළා.
දිවයිනට පැමිණෙන යුරෝපා සංගමයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන් කණ්ඩායම ලබන මැයි මස 07 වනදා දක්වා මෙරට රැඳී සිටීමට නියමිතව තිබෙනවා.
එහිදී දේශපාලනඥයින්, රජයේ නිලධාරීන්, සිවිල් සමාජය හා වෘත්තීය සමිති රැසක් සමඟ ඔවුන් සාකච්ඡා පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතයි.
2024 වසරේදී අමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 3 ක අපනයනයක් සහිත වූ යුරෝපා සංගමය මෙරට දෙවන විශාලතම අපනයන ගමනාන්තය බව විදේශ රැකියා සහ සංචාරක අමාත්‍යාංශය සඳහන් කළා.
