In conjunction with the special public exhibition of the Sacred Tooth Relic currently being held at the historic Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, the Secretary to Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuiya Kontha (Retd) undertook an inspection tour of the temple yesterday and today (23) to inspect the current progress in providing basic facilities to the public.
This special exhibition of the Sacred Tooth Relic began on April (18) on the instructions of the Honorable President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The public exhibition of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Relic will be held daily from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm until the (27th) and accordingly, hundreds of thousands of local and foreign Buddhist devotees are reaching Kandy daily to see and worship the Tooth Relic with their own eyes.
A special security program is already being implemented continuously 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of the people, including providing basic facilities including food, first aid and sanitary facilities to the devotees, led by members of the tri-forces.
The Defense Secretary, who visited the place today with the aim of providing them with the basic facilities they need and checking on the security program, inquired about the current status of the programs currently being implemented and appreciated the members of the tri-forces, the police and the Civil Defense Force who are working hard and dedicatedly day and night. He addressed the senior officers of the tri-services in charge of the relevant matters and instructed them to take necessary measures to avoid any inconvenience that may arise.
As a large number of devout Buddhists have come to pay homage to the Tooth Relic on this auspicious occasion after many years, very long queues have already formed. The Defense Secretary requested the public to check the condition of the long queues and come to avoid any inconvenience that may arise. He greatly appreciated the care and services provided by the benefactors for these people who come from all over the world.
Furthermore, the Defense Secretary emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of all of us, the relevant authorities, to provide the necessary security and facilities to the devotees participating in this rare spiritual occasion that has arisen for the Buddhist people of the world after 16 years to pay homage to the Tooth Relic without any hindrance.
ඓතිහාසික මහනුවර ශ්රී දළඳා මාලිගාවේදී මේ දිනවල පැවැත්වෙන ශ්රී දන්ත ධාතූන් වහන්සේගේ විශේෂ මහජන ප්රදර්ශනයට සමගාමීව ජනතාවට අවශ්ය මූලික පහසුකම් සැලසීම හා සම්බන්ධ වත්මන් ප්රගතිය පරීක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් එයාර් වයිස් මාර්ෂල් සම්පත් තුයිය කොන්තා (විශ්රාමික) ඊයේ සහ අද (23) දින එහි නිරීක්ෂණ චාරිකාවක නිරත විය.
ගරු ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මැතිතුමාගේ උපදෙස් අනුව මෙම විශේෂ දළදා වහන්සේගේ ප්රර්දර්ශනය පසුගිය අප්රේල් (18) වන දින ආරම්භ විය. එළැඹෙන (27) දින දක්වා දිනපතා පෙරවරු 11:00 සිට පස්වරු 05:30 දක්වා ශ්රී දන්ත ධාතූන් වහන්සේගේ මහජන ප්රදර්ශනය පැවැත්වෙන අතර, ඒ අනුව ලක්ෂ සංඛ්යාත දෙස් විදෙස් බෞද්ධ බැතිමතුන් පිරිසක් දළදා වහන්සේ සියැසින් දැක වැඳපුදා ගැනීමට දිනපතා මහනුවර වෙත ළඟාවෙමින් සිටී.
ත්රිවිධ හමුදා සාමාජිකයන්ගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් බැතිමතුන් හට අවශ්ය කෙරෙන ආහාරපාන, ප්රථමාධාර හා සනීපාරක්ෂක පහසුකම් ඇතුළු මූලික පහසුකම් ලබාදීම මෙන්ම, ජනතාවගේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා විශේෂ ආරක්ෂක වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් මේවන විටත් පැය 24 පුරා අඛණ්ඩව ක්රියාත්මක කෙරෙමින් පවතී.
ඔවුන්ට අවශ්ය මූලික පහසුකම් සැලසීම හා ආරක්ෂක වැඩ පිළිවෙල පිළිබඳ සොයා බැලීමේ අරමුණින් අද දින එහි ගිය ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්වරයා, දැනට ක්රියාත්මක වැඩසටහන්හි වත්මන් තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳ සොයා බැලූ අතර, දිවා රෑ නොබලා වෙහෙස මහන්සියෙන් සහ කැපවීමෙන් කටයුතු කරනු ලබන ත්රිවිධ හමුදාවේ, පොලිසියේ මෙන්ම, සිවිල් ආරක්ෂක බලකායේ සාමාජිකයින් ඇගැයීමට ලක් කරන ලදි. මෙහිදී ඇති විය හැකි අපහසුතා මඟහරවා ගනිමින් අවශ්ය කටයුතු සිදු කරන මෙන් අදාළ කටයුතු භාරව සිටින ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ ත්රිවිධ හමුදා නිලධාරීන් අමතා ඔවුන් හට උපදෙස් ලබා දුන්නේය.
වසර ගණනාවකට පසු උදා වූ මෙම මහඟු අවස්ථාවේ සැදැහැවත් බෞද්ධ ජනතාව ඉතා විශාල ප්රමාණයක් දළදා වහන්සේ වැඳ පුදා ගැනීමට පැමිණීම නිසා ඉතා දිගු පෝලිම් මේ වන විටත් ඇති වී ඇති අතර, ඇති විය හැකි අපහසුතා මඟහරවා ගැනීමට දිගු පෝලිම්වල තත්වය විමසා බලා පැමිණෙන ලෙස මහජනතාවගෙන් ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්වරයා ඉල්ලා සිටි අතර, නන් දෙසින් පැමිණෙන මෙම ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් දානපතියන් විසින් ලබාදෙනු ලබන එම සත්කාර හා සේවා මහත් සේ අගය කර සිටින ලදී.
තවද, වසර 16 කට පසු ලෝකවාසී බෞද්ධ ජනතාවට උදා වූ මෙම දුර්ලභ අධ්යාත්මික අවස්ථාවට සහභාගි වන බැතිමතුන් වෙත බාධාවකින් තොරව දළදා වහන්සේ වැඳ පුදා ගැනීමට අවශ්ය ආරක්ෂාව සහ පහසුකම් සැලසීම අදාළ බලධාරීන් වන අප සැමගේ සාමූහික වගකීම බව ද ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්වරයා එහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.
