Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says that the dark memories of the horrific incident that occurred on Easter Sunday on April 21, 2019, remain the same even after six years and that the responsibility for its victims remains the same.
The Prime Minister had stated this while issuing a message for Easter Sunday, which falls today (April 20).
The Prime Minister has also confirmed in her message that justice will be served as a government for the victims who faced the horrific incident that occurred on Easter Sunday six years ago.
This is while emphasizing that the government’s continued efforts to investigate the attack and uncover all the truth without hindrance or delay remain a priority.
The Prime Minister’s full Easter Sunday message is below…
“As Christians in Sri Lanka and around the world celebrate the resurrection of Christ, Easter reminds us of the eternal power of hope, renewal and compassion.
Easter is a time to reflect on our humanity and the values of faith, love and resilience that unite us in the face of adversity.
I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Sri Lankans celebrating this sacred occasion. I pray that this Easter brings peace and strength to you and your families.
The dark memories of the horrific events that took place on Easter Sunday, 21 April 2019, have not faded from our minds. Today, six years later, the pain of it still lingers and so does our responsibility to the victims. We stand with their families, as well as with the entire community, in search of truth and justice. Citizens will stand together.
As a government, we reaffirm that justice will be served for them. Our continued efforts to investigate the attack and uncover all the truth without hindrance or delay remain a priority. Accountability, transparency and genuine justice are essential to restoring public trust.
Let us move forward with strength and unity, protecting the dignity of every life and working towards a future of equality and justice for all.

අගමැතිනියගේ පාස්කු ඉරිදා දින පණිවුඩය
2019 වසරේ අප්රේල් 21 වැනිදා, පාස්කු ඉරිදා සිදු වූ බිහිසුණු සිදුවීමේ අඳුරු මතක වසර හයකට පසුවත් එලෙසම පවතින බවත් එහි වින්දිතයින් වෙනුවෙන් වන වගකීම එලෙසම පවතින බවත් අග්රාමාත්ය අචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය පවසනවා.
අග්රාමාත්යවරිය මේ බව සඳහන් කර තිබුණේ, අදට (අප්රේල් 20) යෙදෙන පාස්කු ඉරුදින වෙනුවෙන් පණිවුඩයක් නිකුත් කරමින්.
එමෙන්ම මීට වසර හයකට පෙර පාස්කු ඉරිදා සිදු වූ බිහිසුණු සිදුවීමට මුහුණපෑ වින්දිතයින් වෙනුවෙන්, රජයක් ලෙස යුක්තිය ඉටුකරන බවත් අග්රාමාත්යවරිය සිය පණිවුඩයෙන් තහවුරු කර තිබෙනවා.
ඒ, එම ප්රහාරය විමර්ශනය කිරීමට සහ බාධාවකින් හෝ ප්රමාදයකින් තොරව සියලු සත්යයන් අනාවරණය කර ගැනීමට අඛණ්ඩව දරන උත්සාහයන් රජයේ ප්රමුඛතාවයක් ලෙස පවතින බව අවධාරණය කරමින්.

”ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සහ ලොව පුරා සිටින කිතුනුවන් ක්රිස්තුස් වහන්සේගේ උත්ථානය සමරන පාස්කු ඉරිදාව, අපට බලාපොරොත්තුවේ, අලුත් වීමේ සහ අනුකම්පාවේ සදාතනික බලය සිහිපත් කරවයි.
පාස්කු උත්සවය යනු අපගේ මනුෂ්යත්වය සහ විපත් හමුවේ අපව එක්සත් කරන වටිනාකම් ඇදහිලි, ප්රේමය සහ ඔරොත්තු දීමේ හැකියාව පිළිබඳ නැවත මෙනෙහි කිරීමට අවස්ථාව උදාවන කාලයයි.
මෙම පූජනීය අවස්ථාව සමරන සියලුම ශ්රී ලාංකිකයින්ට මම මගේ හෘදයාංගම සුබ පැතුම් පිරිනමමි. මෙම පාස්කු උත්සවය ඔබටත් ඔබේ පවුලටත් සාමය සහ ශක්තිය ගෙන එනු ඇතැයි මම ප්රාර්ථනා කරමි.
2019 අප්රේල් 21 වන දින පාස්කු ඉරිදා සිදු වූ බිහිසුණු සිදුවීමේ අඳුරු මතක අප සිතින් බැහැරව ගොස් නැත. අද, වසර හයකට පසුවත්, තවමත් එහි වේදනාව ඉතිරිව ඇති අතර වින්දිතයින් වෙනුවෙන් වූ අපගේ වගකීම ද එලෙසම පවතී. ඔවුන්ගේ පවුල් සමඟ, මෙන්ම සමස්ථ ප්රජාව සමඟද සත්යය සහ යුක්තිය සොයන සියලුම පුරවැසියන් එක්ව සිටගනු ඇත.
රජයක් ලෙස, ඔවුන් වෙනුවෙන් යුක්තිය ඉටු වන බව අපි නැවත තහවුරු කරමු. එම ප්රහාරය විමර්ශනය කිරීමට සහ බාධාවකින් හෝ ප්රමාදයකින් තොරව සියලු සත්යයන් අනාවරණය කර ගැනීමට අඛණ්ඩව දරන උත්සාහයන් අපගේ ප්රමුඛතාවයක් ලෙස පවතී. මහජන විශ්වාසය නැවත ඇති කිරීම සඳහා වගවීම, විනිවිදභාවය සහ අව්යාජ යුක්තිය පසිඳලීම අත්යවශ්ය වේ.
සෑම ජීවිතයකම ගෞරවය ආරක්ෂා කරමින් සහ සැමට සමානාත්මතාවය සහ යුක්තිය ලැබිය යුතු අනාගතයක් වෙනුවෙන් කටයුතු කරමින්, ශක්තියෙන් හා එකමුතුකමින් ඉදිරියට යමු.
