The suspect who shot at the ‘Jeewamana Christ Church’ located in Ayurveda Place, Manampitiya last night (18) has been arrested by the police.
The suspect is a 38-year-old resident of the Manampitiya area, and the police have also seized a locally-made firearm used in the shooting.
No casualties were reported in the shooting, but a window of the church was damaged.
The Manampitiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

ඊයේ (18) රාත්රී මනම්පිටිය ආයුර්වේද පෙදෙසෙහි පිහිටි ‘ජීවමාන ක්රිස්තු දේවස්ථානය’ නම් වූ සිද්ධස්ථානයට වෙඩි තබා පලාගිය සැකකරු පොලීසිය විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබෙනවා.
සැකකරු වයස අවුරුදු 38ක් වන, මනම්පිටිය ප්රදේශයේම පදිංචිකරුවෙක් වන අතර, ඔහු සමග, වෙඩි තැබීම සඳහා යොදා ගන්නා ලද මෙරට නිෂ්පාදිත ගිනි අවියක්ද පොලීසිය විසින් සිය භාරයට ගෙන තිබෙන බවයි සඳහන් වන්නේ.
අදාළ වෙඩි තැබීමෙන් ජීවිත හානි කිසිවක් සිදුව නොමැති අතර, දේවස්ථානයේ ජනේලයකට අලාභ හානි සිදුවී තිබෙනවා.
මනම්පිටිය පොලීසිය සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වැඩිදුර විමර්ශන සිදුකරනු ලබනවා.
