The number of new active credit cards in Sri Lanka increased by 1,770 in February 2025, according to Central Bank data.
The number of active credit cards increased by 0.1 percent to 2,020,766 at the end of February from 2,018,996 at the end of January.
Active credit cards are reported to have increased by 0.6 percent in the first two months of 2025.
Active credit cards in Sri Lanka increased by 4.8 percent in 2024, or 91,371. Active credit cards increased by 19,076 in December 2024.
However, with the Central Bank’s monetary policy rate hike in 2022 and the country declaring bankruptcy, active credit cards decreased by 1.8 percent, or 39,991, in 2023.
Accordingly, the Central Bank sharply raised interest rates in April 2022 to combat hyperinflation.

2025 පෙබරවාරි මාසයේදී ශ්රී ලංකාවේ නව ක්රියාකාරී ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් 1,770කින් වැඩි වී ඇති බව මහ බැංකු දත්ත පෙන්වා දෙයි.
ජනවාරි අවසානයේ 2,018,996ක් වූ සක්රීය ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් සංඛ්යාව පෙබරවාරි අවසානයේ 2,020,766 දක්වා ඉහළ ගිය අතර, එය සියයට 0.1ක වර්ධනයකි.
2025 මුල් මාස දෙක තුළ සක්රීය ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් සියයට 0.6කින් ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.
2024 දී ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සක්රීය ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් සියයට 4.8කින්, එනම් 91,371කින් වැඩි වී ඇත. 2024 දෙසැම්බර් මාසයේදී ක්රියාකාරී ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් 19,076කින් ඉහළ ගියේය.
කෙසේ නමුත්, 2022 දී මහ බැංකුවේ මුදල් ප්රතිපත්ති අනුපාත ඉහළ යාමත්, රට බංකොලොත් බව ප්රකාශ කිරීමත් සමඟ, 2023 දී ක්රියාකාරී ක්රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් සියයට 1.8කින්, එනම් 39,991කින් අඩු විය.
ඒ අනුව, අධි උද්ධමනයට එරෙහිව 2022 අප්රේල් මාසයේදී මහ බැංකුව පොලී අනුපාත තියුනු ලෙස ඉහළ නැංවීය.
