Speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (16), Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa said that the appointment of Gammanpila as Pillayan’s lawyer shows how serious the fraud, corruption and murders that occurred in the past are.
The Minister said that the people have not seen that Mr. Udaya Gammanpila has previously argued cases in this country.
Mr. Nalinda Jayatissa further commented:
“The people have never seen Mr. Gammanpila pleading cases in this country before. But the Pillays have chosen Gammanpila as their lawyer.
Gammanpila has also taken over the Pillays’ case. These are not just political assassinations. These are things that have been carried out within a large network. That ball of thread is now slowly unraveling.
Currently, the Bribery Commission has become active and has taken up files that were hidden in the past. Cases are being filed against the guilty. The Criminal Investigation Department is also starting its work, filing cases and filing indictments.
Everything that needs to be done in terms of law is being done by the relevant institutions. The government is only providing the necessary facilities for this.”

“ගම්මන්පිල මහතා මේ රටේ නඩු කතා කරනවා මීට පෙර ජනතාව දැක නැහැ. නමුත් පිල්ලයන් තම නීතිඥයා හැටියට තෝරාගෙන තිබෙන්නේ ගම්මන්පිලව.
ගම්මන්පිල බාරගෙන තිබෙන්නෙත් පිල්යන්ගේ නඩුව. මේවා නිකම්ම නිකම් දේශපාලන ඝාතන නොවේ. මේවා මහා ජාලයක් ඇතුලේ ක්රියාත්මක වී තිබෙන දේවල්. එම නූල් බෝලය දැන් ටිකෙන් ටික ලිහෙමින් පවතිනවා.
මේ වන විට අල්ලස් කොමිසම සක්රීය වී පසුගිය කාලයේ යටගොස් තිබූ ෆයිල් උඩට ගනිමින් තිබෙනවා. වැරදිකරුවන්ට නඩු පවරමින් තිබෙනවා. අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවත් ඔවුන්ගේ කටයුතු ආරම්භ කරමින් නඩු පවරමින් අධිචෝදනා ගොනු කරමින් සිටිනවා.
නීතිය පැත්තෙන් කළ යුතු සියලු දේවල් ඊට සම්බන්ධ ආයතන මගින් සිදුකරමින් පවතිනවා. රජය මඟින් සිදු කරනු ලබන්නේ ඊට අවශ්ය පහසුකම් සැපයීම පමණයි”
