Regardless of our religion, we are all blessed to be born in this land where the Sacred Tooth Relic resides, and as citizens, we must do everything we can to protect Buddhism, which is the backbone of the common heritage of this country, says His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
Issuing a message regarding the Sri Dalada Vandana Mahotsava, His Eminence Cardinal Ranjith requests that this occasion be turned into an opportunity to increase coexistence and bonds between nations and interfaiths as part of the pilgrimage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Stating that we will join in supporting this noble occasion as Christians, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith expressed the following views.
Our national culture has been shaped by the teachings we have received from Buddhist sermons. We feel the value of that Dharma even more because of the great inspiration that Dharma gives us to develop brotherhood, peace, harmony and unity among nations in this country.
So, in this country where we have been blessed with such a great treasure, no matter what religion we follow, we should be those who were lucky enough to be born in this country. We are excited about that and we should do everything to protect Buddhism, which is the backbone of the common heritage of this country.
So, at such a time as this, the Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which is a very great treasure of Sri Lanka, residing on the soil of Sri Lanka, is a common blessing for all of us.
Therefore, we greatly appreciate the fact that the Sri Lankan government has requested the Most Venerable Mahanayake Theros to display this Tooth Relic and the process taken by that religious leadership to accept that request and provide this great treasure to our country. We are grateful to them.
So, at this time, we are happy about such a great opportunity to promote inter-religious harmony and brotherhood and we express our sincere gratitude to all of them.
Likewise, at the moment when our people come together to worship and honor this Tooth Relic, let us join in showing our brotherhood with them.
Likewise, let us take every step we can to promote religious harmony and brotherhood in this country. Let us make it a part of the respect we show to the most noble Tooth Relic. In addition to the veneration of the pilgrimage, developing brotherhood among nations and religions and living together is another very important part of the respect we show to Him.
Therefore, at this time, we request all of you to support this cause. Let us all come together and give this respect to Him.
Also, on this occasion, I congratulate our Buddhist brothers on behalf of the Catholic Christian people. We also offer our best wishes and blessings to all Buddhist brothers and sisters living in Sri Lanka, especially the Most Venerable Mahanayake Theros.

උතුම් ශ්රී දළදා වහන්සේ වැඩ හිඳින මේ බිමේ ඉපදෙන්න ලැබීම වාසනාවක් – කාදිනල් හිමි පවසයි
කුමණ ආගමක් අදහනු ලැබුවත් අති උතුම් දළදා වහන්සේ වැඩ වාසය කරන මේ භූමියේ ඉපදුන අප සියලු දෙනාම වාසනාවන්තයින් බවත් මේ රටේ පොදු උරුමයේ කොඳු නාරටියවන බුදු දහම ආරක්ෂා කරගැනීම පුරවැසියන් ලෙස සියලු දෙනා සෑම දෙයක්ම කළ යුතු බවත් අති උතුම් මැල්කම් කාදිනල් රන්ජිත් හිමිපාණෝ පවසති.
සිරි දළදා වන්දනා මහෝත්සවය සම්බන්ධව පණිවිඩයක් නිකුත් කරමින් කාදිනල් හිමිපාණන්න වහන්සේ ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ අති උතුම් දළදා වහන්සේට දක්වන වන්දනා ගෞරවයේ කොටසක් ලෙස මේ අවස්ථාව ජාතීන් අතර, අන්තර් ආගමිකයින් අතර සහජීවනය සහ බැඳීම වැඩි කරගැනීමේ අවස්ථාවක් බවට පත් කරගන්නා ලෙසය.
මේ උතුම් අවස්ථාවට කිතුනු ජනතාව ලෙස සහයෝගය දක්වමින් එක්වන බව පවසමින් අති උතුම් මැල්කම් කාදිනල් රන්ජිත් හිමිපාණන් දැක්වූ අදහස මෙසේය.
අපේ ජාතික සංස්කෘතිය සංස්කරණය වෙලා තියෙන්නෙ බෞද්ධ දේශනාවලින් අපට ලැබුණ ධර්මය තුළයි. ඒ ධර්මයේ වටිනාකම අපට තව තවත් වැඩිපුර දැනෙන්නේ මේ රට තුළ සහෝදරත්ව සාමය එකඟතාවය ජාතීන් අතර එකමුතුව වර්ධනය කරන්න ඒ ධර්මයෙන් අපට ලැබෙන උතුම් වූ ආභාසය නිසයි.
ඉතින් මේ වගේ උතුම් වස්තුවක් අපට ලැබිලා තියන මේ රටේ ඇත්ත වශයෙන්ම අපි මොන ආගමක් ඇදහුවත් මේ රටේ ඉපදෙන්නට වාසනාව ලබා ගත් අය වෙන්නට ඕන. ඒ ගැන උද්දාමයට පත්වන අතර මේ රටේ පොදු උරුමයේ කොඳු නාරටිය වන බුදු දහම ආරක්ෂා කරගැනීමට අප හැම දෙයක්ම කළ යුතුයි.
ඉතින් මේ වැනි අවස්ථාවක ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ඉතාම උතුම් වූ වස්තුවක් වන බුදු දහමට සම්බන්ධ බුදු රජානන්වහන්සේ ගේ දන්ත ධාතූන් වහන්සේ මේ ශ්රී ලංකා පොලව තලය මත වැඩ වාසය කිරීම අප සියලු දෙනාටම ලැබුන පොදු ආශීර්වාදයක්.
ඒ නිසා මේ දන්ත ධාතූන්වහන්සේ ප්රදර්ශනය කරන්නට ශ්රි ලංකාවේ රජය අති පූජ්ය වන්දනීය මහා නායක හිමිවරුන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටීම සහ එම ඉල්ලීම පිළිගෙන මේ උතුම් වූ වස්තුව අපේ රටට ලබා දීමට ඒ ආගමික නායකත්වය ගත්ත ක්රියාදාමය අපි හුඟක් අගය කරනවා. ඒ අයට ස්තුතිවන්ත වෙනවා.
ඉතින් මේ අවස්ථාවේදී අන්තර් ආගමික සහජීවනය සහ සහෝදරත්වය වර්ධනය කරන්නාවූ මෙවැනි උතුම් අවස්ථාවක් ගැන සතුටුවන අතර මේ සියලු දෙනාටම අපේ අවංක ස්තුතිය පුද කර සිටිනවා.
එලෙසම මෙම දන්තධාතූන් වහන්සේ වැඳ පුදාගන්නට, ගෞරව කරන්නට අපේ ජනතාව පෙළ ගැසී එන මොහෝතේ දී අපි අපේ සහෝදරත්වය ඔවුන් සමග දක්වන්නට එකතු වෙමු.
එලෙසම මේ රට තුළ ආගමික සංහිඳියාව සහෝදරත්වය වර්ධනය කරන්නට අපට ගත හැකි හැම පියවරක්ම ගනිමු. අති උතුම් වූ දළදා වහන්සේට අප දක්වන ගෞරවයේ කොටසක් බවට එය පත් කර ගනිමු. වන්දනා ගෞරවයට අමතරව ජාතීන් අතර, ආගමිකයින් අතර සහෝදරත්වය වර්ධනය කර ජීවත් වීම අප උන්වහන්සේට දක්වන ගෞරවයේ තවත් ඉතා වැදගත් දෙයක් වෙනවා.
ඒ නිසා මේ අවස්ථාවේ දී අපි ඔබ සියලු දෙනාගෙන්ම ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ මේ කටයුත්තට සහයෝගය දක්වන ලෙසයි. අපි ඔක්කොම එකතු වෙලා මේ ගෞරවය උන්වහන්සේට ලබා දෙමු.
ඒ වගේම මේ අවස්ථාවේ දී මා කතෝලික කිතුණු ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් බෞද්ධ සහෝදරයින්ට සුබ පතනවා. එමෙන්ම අති පූජනීය වන්දනීය මහා නායක හිමිවරුන් ප්රමුඛ ලංකාවේ ජීවත්වන සෑම බෞද්ධ සහෝදර සහෝදරියකටම අපගේ සුබාශිංශනය සහ ආශීර්වාදය පුද කරනවා.
ශ්රී ලංකාවට මේ උතුම් වූ අවස්ථාවෙන් ජය වේවා මා ප්රාර්ථනා කරනවා.
