Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s office has issued a statement stating that the claim that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Professor Maithri Wickremesinghe spent government funds on a trip to London in 2023 is completely false.
As stated in the statement, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe has visited London three times in 2023.
Accordingly,
First visit – on May 09, 2023, to attend the coronation of King Charles II.
Second visit – while attending the Paris Conference for the 40th Anniversary Session of the International Democratic Union (IDU).
Third visit – After attending the G 77 Summit in Havana and then the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he returned to London.
The third visit to London was to attend the ceremony to confer the title of Professor on Mrs. Maithri Wickremesinghe at the University of Wolverhampton in Great Britain.
It is said that since the ceremony was also held at the University of Wolverhampton on the same days that Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the former President also went to London to attend the ceremony upon the invitation received.
It is also said that Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe met many heads of state during these visits.
Also, as the wife of the President, Professor Maithri Wickremesinghe has also participated in meetings, workshops, etc. organized at the international level.
Although it was previously planned to arrive from New York and leave London later in the day, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s arrival in Sri Lanka has been postponed until the next day as he had several meetings that afternoon.
The statement further states that it is extremely problematic to say that a large amount of money was spent on a visit to London by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and officials, and that this fact also shows that the current government has no understanding of diplomatic visits.
The statement further states that as President, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe has not made any private visit to London at government expense in 2023 and all statements made in this regard are false.
ලන්ඩන් සංචාරය ගැන කළ චෝදනාවලට රනිල්ගෙන් පිළිතුරු

එම නිවේදනයේ සඳහන් පරිදි රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා 2023 වර්ෂයේදී තුන්වරක් ලන්ඩනයේ සංචාරය කර තිබේ.
ඒ අනුව,
ප්රථම සංචාරය – 2023 මැයි 09 වනදා, ii වැනි චාල්ස් රජතුමාගේ අභිෂේක උත්සවයට සහභාගී වීම සඳහා.
දෙවැනි සංචාරය – පැරිස් සමුළුවට සහභාගී වන අතරතුර ජාත්යන්තර ප්රජාතාන්ත්රිකයින්ගේ සංගමයේ (lDU) 40 වැනි සංවත්සර සැසි වාරය සඳහා.
තෙවන සංචාරය – හවානා නුවර G 77 සමුළුවට සහභාගී වී පසුව නිව්යෝක් නුවර එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජගත් සමුළුවටද එක්වීමෙන් අනතුරුව ලන්ඩන් නගරයට පැමිණීම.
එලෙස තෙවනවරට ලන්ඩන් නගරය ගොස් ඇත්තේ, මෛත්රී වික්රමසිංහ මහත්මියට මහා බ්රිතාන්යයේ වුල්වන්හැම්ප්ටන් (Wolverhampton) විශ්වවිද්යාලයෙන් මහාචාර්ය පදවිය ප්රධානය කිරීමේ උත්සවයට සහභාගී වීම සඳහාය.
රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා නිව්යෝක් නුවර එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජගත් සමුළුවට සභාගිවූ දිනවලම වුල්වන්හැම්ප්ටන් විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ එම උත්සවය ද පැවති බැවින් ලැබුණු ආරාධනය මත හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා ද එම උත්සවයට සහභාගීම සඳහා ලන්ඩන් නගරයට ගිය බව සඳහන් වේ.
මේ සංචාරවලදී රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා රාජ්ය නායකයින් රැසක් හමුවූ බවද සඳහන් වේ.
එසේම ජනපති බිරිඳ ලෙස මහාචාර්ය මෛත්රී වික්රමසිංහ මහත්මිය ඒ අතරතුරදී ජාත්යන්තර මට්ටමින් සංවිධානය කෙරුණු රැස්වීම්, වැඩමුළු ආදියටද සහභාගී වී තිබේ.
නිව්යෝක් නුවර සිට පැමිණ දිවා කාලයෙන් පසුව ලන්ඩන් නගරයෙන් පිටවීමට කලින් සැලසුම් කර තිබුණද එදින පස්වරුවේ හමුවීම් කිහිපයක් පැවැති බැවින් රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණීම පසුදා තෙක් කල් දමා තිබේ.
හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා සහ නිලධාරීන්ගේ ලන්ඩන් සංචාරයක් සඳහා ප්රකාශිත ආකාරයේ අධික මුදලක් වැය වූයේ යයි පැවසීම අතිශය ගැටලු සහගත බවත් රාජ්යතාන්ත්රික වශයෙන් කරන සංචාර පිළිබඳ වත්මන් රජයට අවබෝධයක් නැති බව මේ කරුණ හමුවේදී ද පැහැදිලි වන බව එම නිවේදනයේ වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් වේ.
ජනාධිපති ලෙස රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා රජයේ වියදමින් ලන්ඩන් නුවරට 2023 වර්ෂයේදී කිසිදු පෞද්ගලික සංචාරයක නිරත වී නැති බවත් ඒ පිළිබඳව කරන සියලු ප්රකාශ සාවද්යය බවත් එම නිවේදනයෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් පවසා ඇත.
