Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe made a special statement today (16) regarding the Batalanda Commission report.
The former President pointed out that the commission report shows the serious terrorist acts committed by the JVP during the 88-90 period.
The special statement issued by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is above.
“After the signing of the Indo-Lanka Accord, the JVP took steps to create terror throughout the country. At that time, Mr. J. R. Jayewardene delegated the power to protect the country’s sensitive areas to the cabinet ministers. There were several economically important places in the Biyagama area such as the oil refinery, the diesel power plant, the center that supplies electricity to Colombo from the Mahaweli, and the trade zone. The army was called in to ensure the security of that area.”

බටලන්ද කොමිෂන් සභා වාර්තාව සම්බන්ධව හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා විශේෂ ප්රකාශයක් අද (16) සිදු කරනු ලැබීය.
ඒ මගින් හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරයා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ 88-90 කාලවලදී ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණ විසින් සිදුකළ දරුණු ත්රස්තවාදී ක්රියා සම්බන්ධව එම කොමිෂන් සභා වාර්තාවේ දැක්වෙන බවය.
හිටපු ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ මහතා නිකුත් කළ එම විශේෂ ප්රකාශය ඉහතින්.
“ඉන්දු ලංකා ගිවිසුම අත්සන් කිරීමේන් පසුව ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණ රට පුරා භීෂණයක් ඇති කිරීමට ඇති කිරීමට කටයුතු කරනු ලැබුවා. ඒ අවස්ථාවේ රටේ මර්මස්ථාන ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ බලය ජේ. ආර් ජයවර්ධන මැතිතුමා විසින් කැබිනට් ඇමතිවරුන්ට පැවරුවා. බියගම ප්රදේශයේ තෙල් පිරිපහදුව, ඩීසල් බලාගාරය, මහවැලියේ සිට කොළඹට විදුලි බලය ලබා දෙන මධ්යස්ථානය, වෙළඳ කළාපය ලෙස ආර්ථික වශයෙන් වැදගත් ස්ථාන කිහිපයක් තිබුණා. එම ප්රදේශයේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා හමුදාව කැඳවණු ලැබුවා.”
