IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon has filed a writ petition with the Court of Appeal through his lawyers seeking an interim injunction to suspend the order issued by the Matara Magistrate’s Court to arrest him in connection with the shooting incident at the Weligama W. 15 Hotel in Matara in 2023.
This petition was called for consideration today (10) before the Court of Appeal bench comprising Acting Chairman of the Appellate Division, Mohamed Lafar Tahir and Sarath Dissanayake.
The bench ordered that the petition be called for consideration on the 12th after serving notice to the respondents.

2023 වසරේ මාතර වැලිගම ඩබ්ලිව්. 15 හෝටලය වෙත වෙඩි ප්රහාරයක් එල්ල කිරීමේ සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් තමන්ව අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලෙස මාතර මහෙස්ත්රාත් අධිකරණය විසින් දී ඇති නියෝගය අත්හිටුවීමේ අතුරු තහනම් නියෝගයක් නිකුත් කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලා පොලිස්පති දේශබන්දු තෙන්නකෝන් මහතා විසින් සිය නීතිඥවරු මාර්ගයෙන් අභියාචනාධිකරණයට රිට් පෙත්සමක් ඉදිරිපත් කර තිබේ.
මෙම පෙත්සම අද (10) අභියාචනාදීකරණයේ වැඩබලන සභාපති මොහොමඩ් ලෆාර් තාහීර් සහ සරත් දිසානායක යන මහත්වරුන්ගෙන් සමන්විත අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල ඉදිරියේ සලකා බැලීම සඳහා කැඳවනු ලැබීය.
එහිදී විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල නියෝග කළේ වග උත්තරකරුවන්ට නොතිසි ලබාදීමෙන් අනතුරුව පෙත්සම සලකා බැලීම සඳහා ලබන 12 වනදා කැඳවන ලෙසය.
