Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala says that 6 police teams have been deployed to arrest Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.
The Minister stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Matara Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant to arrest Deshabandu Tennakoon on the 28th.
This was in connection with the investigations into the shooting incident that took place in front of a hotel in the Pelena area of Matara on December 31, 2023.
A foreign travel ban was also imposed on him.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala stated yesterday that steps will be taken to seize the properties of warrant holders who evade the court.
He emphasized that rank is not relevant to the implementation of the law.

ඒ, 2023 දෙසැම්බර් 31 වැනිදා මාතර පැලෑන ප්රදේශයේ හෝටලයක් ඉදිරිපිට සිදුවූ වෙඩි තැබීමේ සිදුවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් කෙරෙන විමර්ශනවලට අදාළවයි.
අනතුරුව ඔහුට විදෙස් ගමන් තහනමක් ද පනවනු ලැබුවේ ය.
මේ අතර, අධිකරණය මඟහරින වරෙන්තුකරුවන්ගේ දේපල පවරා ගැනීමට කටයුතු කරන බව, මහජන ආරක්ෂක නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය නීතීඥ සුනිල් වටගල මහතා ඊයේ ප්රකාශ කළේ ය.
