Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala told journalists that the government will initiate a new investigation into the Batalanda Commission report and other allegations against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Responding to a question raised by a journalist regarding the presentation of the Batalanda Commission report to Parliament, the Deputy Minister said that the matter should be discussed with the Minister of Justice.

He stressed that no crime escapes the statute of limitations and that hidden crimes will come to light someday. He assured that if Ranil Wickremesinghe is accused of being responsible for the three incidents, especially the Easter attack, the bond scam and the Batalanda torture chamber, the investigations conducted under the National People’s Power government will ensure that the law is applied fairly to everyone.

කිසිදු අපරාධයක් කාලාවරෝධයෙන් ගැලවී නොයන බවත්, සැඟවුණු අපරාධ කවදා හෝ එළිදරව් වන බවත් ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය. ඔහු විශේෂයෙන්ම පාස්කු ප්රහාරය, බැඳුම්කර වංචාව සහ බටලන්ද වධකාගාරය යන සිදුවීම් තුන සම්බන්ධයෙන් රනිල් වික්රමසිංහ වගකිව යුතු බවට චෝදනා එල්ල වුවහොත්, ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ ආණ්ඩුව යටතේ සිදුකරන පරීක්ෂණ මගින් කාටත් නීතිය සාධාරණව ක්රියාත්මක වන බවට ඔහු සහතික විය.
