The government hopes to convert the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport into an aircraft repair centre, Minister Bimal Ratnayake told Parliament today.
Speaking during the committee stage debate on the budget, the Minister said that the government hopes to convert Mattala Airport into a profitable enterprise in collaboration with a suitable foreign partner.
“Mattala Airport was built at a cost of Rs. 36.5 billion and its total loss in the last five years is Rs. 38.5 billion. We want to convert this institution into a profitable institution,” he added.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ අන්තර්ජාතික ගුවන්තොටුපොළ ගුවන්යානා අලුත්වැඩියා කිරීමේ මධ්යස්ථානයක් බවට පත්කිරීමට රජය බලාපොරොත්තු වන බව අමාත්ය බිමල් රත්නායක අද පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට පැවැසීය.
අයවැය පිළිබඳ කාරක සභා අවස්ථාවේ විවාදයේදී අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්යවරයා පැවසුවේ, සුදුසු විදේශීය හවුල්කරුවකු සමඟ එක්ව මත්තල ගුවන්තොටුපොළ ලාභ ලබන ව්යාපාරයක් බවට පත්කිරීමට රජය බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවයි.
“මත්තල ගුවන්තොටුපොළ රුපියල් බිලියන 36.5 ක වියදමින් ඉදිකරන ලද අතර පසුගිය වසර පහ තුළ එහි මුළු පාඩුව රුපියල් බිලියන 38.5 කි. අපට අවශ්ය වන්නේ මෙම ආයතනය ලාභ ලබන ආයතනයක් බවට පත්කිරීමයි,” ඔහු තවදුරටත් පැවසීය
