Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya says that due to the loss of political asylum and the inability to enter the country and commit crimes, organized criminals living abroad are seen to be executing their followers.
The Acting IGP made this statement while participating in a special press conference currently underway at the Government Information Department.
Expressing further views, he pointed out that 58 organized crime gangs and 1400 of their followers have been identified in the country.
The Acting IGP also stated that 17 shooting incidents have been reported this year alone and 5 cases of dismemberment have been reported.
He also pointed out that 17 of those incidents have already been investigated.
The Acting IGP assured that the law will be implemented without any interference from the police and the tri-services as some of the reported incidents are directly or indirectly related to them.
Meanwhile, the Acting IGP emphasized that in order to create a good atmosphere in the country, steps will be taken to provide rewards to the public who provide information regarding criminals and firearms.
Accordingly, the Acting IGP stated that the public is requested to provide confidential information to 1997 and that if there is specific information regarding a T-56 weapon based on the information provided, a financial reward of one million rupees will be given for providing information.
The Acting IGP also emphasized that since the activities of these criminal gangs have been identified mostly in the Western and Southern provinces, security in those areas has been well ensured.

වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කර සිටියේ, රජයේ ප්රවෘත්ති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ මේ වනවිට පැවත්තවෙන විශේෂ ප්රවෘත්ති සාකච්ඡාවට එක්වෙමින්.
එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දක්වමින් ඒ මහතා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, මෙරට තුළ සංවිධානාත්මක අපරාධ කල්ලි 58ක් සහ එහි අනුගාමිකයන් 1400 දෙනෙකු හඳුනාගෙන ඇති බවයි.
එමෙන්ම මෙම වසර තුළ පමණක් වෙඩිතැබීමේ සිද්ධීන් 17ක් වාර්තා වී ඇති බවත් කපාකොටා ඝාතනය කිරීමේ සිද්ධීන් 5ක් වාර්තා වී ඇති බවයි වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේ.
එම සිදුවීම් අතුරින් සිද්ධීන් 17ක් මේ වන විටත් විමර්ශනය කර අවසන් බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නා.
වාර්තා වන ඇතැම් සිද්ධීන්වලට පොලීසිය හා ත්රිවිද හමුදාවේ සාමාජිකයින් ඍජුව හා වක්රව සම්බන්ධ බවට වාර්තා වන බැවින් එම නිලධාරීන් කෙරෙහි බලපෑමකින් තොරවම නීතිය ක්රියාත්මක කරන බවත් වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයා සහතික කර සිටියා.
මේ අතර රටේ යහපත් වාතාවරණයක් ඇති කිරීම උදෙසා අපරාධකරුවන් සහ ගිනිඅවි සම්බන්ධයෙන් තොරතුරු ලබාදෙන මහජනතාවට ත්යාග මුදල් ලබාදීමට ද කටයුතු කරන බවයි වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයා අවධාරණය කර සිටියේ.
ඒ අනුව ජනතාව හට 1997 වෙත රහසිගතව තොරතුරු ලබාදෙන ලෙසත් එලෙස ලබාදෙන තොරතුරු අනුව ටී 56 අවියක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් නිශ්චිත තොරතුරක් වෙතොත් ඊට අදාළ වැටලීම් කර තොරතුරු ලබාදීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් දස ලක්ෂයක මූල්යමය ත්යාග ලබාදීමට කටයුතු කරන බවයි වැඩබලන පොලිස්පතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේ.
