New information has been revealed regarding the main suspect in the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
According to army sources, he is not a commando or an intelligence officer, but a deserter from the army after basic training.
He was later legally discharged from the army under the general amnesty period and has since been involved in various crimes.
As revealed by police investigations, the suspect has been involved in about six murders and is also suspected to be involved in the double murder in Watarappala, Dehiwala. In particular, the police have confirmed that he is the shooter in the double murder that took place in Watarappala on the 7th of last month.
During investigations into the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa that took place at Magistrate’s Court No. 5 in the Aluthkade Judicial Complex, it has been revealed that the suspect had disguised himself as a lawyer and committed the murder.
Speaking at a special media briefing regarding the suspect arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Palaviya area, Puttalam yesterday (19) afternoon, Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Manatunga revealed that the suspect is known by several names and that he had several identity cards as well as an identity card prepared to pose as a lawyer.

පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය (STF) විසින් ඊයේ (19) පස්වරුවේ පුත්තලම පාලවිය ප්රදේශයේදී අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරු පිළිබඳව පොලිස් මාධ්ය ප්රකාශක, ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස් අධිකාරි බුද්ධික මනතුංග මහතා විශේෂ මාධ්ය හමුවකදී අනාවරණය කළේ, සැකකරු නම් කිහිපයකින් හඳුන්වනු ලබන අයෙකු බවත්, ඔහු සතුව හැඳුනුම්පත් කිහිපයක් මෙන්ම නීතිඥවරයෙකු ලෙස පෙනී සිටීමට සකස් කරන ලද හැඳුනුම්පතක්ද තිබී ඇති බවයි.
