The Ceylon Electricity Board says that it is taking short-term and long-term measures to prevent a recurrence of the recent island-wide power outage in the country.
The Ceylon Electricity Board points out that the main measures taken for this purpose include keeping certain generators at low operating levels, using selected gas turbines to stabilize the grid, and reducing solar power during periods of low demand when necessary to avoid problems.
The Ceylon Electricity Board has taken this step after conducting an investigation into the island-wide power outage that occurred on the 9th.
It is also reported that the investigations revealed that the cause of the power outage was an imbalance in the transmission.
“Due to the high penetration of non-synchronous solar PV generation, the network had low system inertia and was susceptible to faults. “This disturbance caused an imbalance between generation and demand, leading to power outages and complete blackouts,” the report said.
The Ceylon Electricity Board also said that it is taking immediate and long-term corrective measures to prevent such situations from occurring again in the future.

විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලයට පෙන්වාදෙන්නේ, ඒ සඳහා ගනුලබන ප්රධාන ක්රියාමාර්ග අතරට, ඇතැම් ජනක යන්ත්ර අඩු ක්රියාකාරිත්වයේ තබා ගැනීම, ග්රිඩ් ස්ථාවර කිරීමට තෝරාගත් ගෑස් ටර්බයින භාවිත කිරීම සහ ගැටළු වළක්වා ගැනීම සඳහා අවශ්ය විට අඩු ඉල්ලුමක් පවතින කාලවලදී සූර්ය බලය අඩුකිරීම සිදුකරන බවයි.
ඉකුත් 09 වැනිදා සිදුවූ දිවයින පුරා විදුලිය බිඳවැටීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලය පරීක්ෂණයක් පැවැත්වීමෙන් අනතුරුව මෙම පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.
විදුලිය විසන්ධිවීමට හේතුව සම්ප්රේෂණයේ අසමතුලිතතාවක් බව ද පරීක්ෂණවලදී අනාවරණ වී ඇතැයි වාර්තා වේ.
“සමමුහුර්ත නොවන සූර්ය PV උත්පාදනයේ ඉහළ විනිවිද යාමක් හේතුවෙන්, ජාලයට අඩු පද්ධති අවස්ථිති භාවයක් තිබූ අතර එය දෝෂවලට ගොදුරු විය හැකිය. මෙම කැළඹීම හේතුවෙන් ජනනය සහ ඉල්ලුම අතර අසමතුලිතතාවයක් ඇති වූ අතර, විදුලිය විසන්ධි වීම සහ සම්පූර්ණයෙන් විදුලිය ඇනහිටීමට හේතු විය.” එම වාර්තාවෙන් පවසා තිබේ.
