Former MP for Puttalam District Shantha Abeysekara and his son have been arrested by the Illicit Assets Investigation Unit.
This was on charges of possessing an illegally assembled vehicle.
An illegally assembled Prado vehicle allegedly used by the former MP was taken into custody by the Illicit Assets Investigation Unit in the wee hours of yesterday (06).
It was reported that the investigating officers were unable to obtain a statement regarding the vehicle in question as the former MP had fled the area by then.

හිටපු මන්ත්රීවරයා විසින් භාවිත කළ බව කියන නීතිවිරෝධීව එකලස් කරන ලද ප්රාඩෝ රථයක් කොටස් කර සඟවා තිබියදී නීතිවිරෝධී වත්කම් විමර්ශන ඒකය මඟින් පසුගියදා (06) අලුයම සිය භාරයට ගනු ලැබුවා.
ඒ වන විට හිටපු මන්ත්රීවරයා ප්රදේශයෙන් පළාගොස් සිට ඇති බැවින්, අදාළ රථය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්රකාශයක් ලබාගැනීමට විමර්ශන නිලධාරීන්ට නොහැකි වූ බවයි වාර්තා වූයේ.
