A new organized large-scale racket making tablets (capsules) from elephant meat is operating in Sri Lanka, says environmental scientist Dr. Ajantha Weerasinghe.
She revealed this at a press conference held after visiting the Ministry of Electric Power and giving a written request to the authorities to immediately stop supplying electricity to unauthorized houses and hotels.
She stated as follows.
“We have come today to make a shocking revelation in the context of the budget. These people are carrying out a racket of making tablets from elephant meat by sending elephants currently in the forests to their final journey. The rulers of the country have no backbone. A large number of elephants are currently dying due to the laying of unauthorized power lines.
There are 16 elephant passes inside the reserved forests. There are 5 elephant passes in the Anuradhapura district. Hotels and houses are being built near the elephant pass. Who gave permission for this? Who provided electricity to these houses? There is a serious suspicion. By 2023, 75 elephants had died after being hit by unauthorized power lines. No one has the right to kill and eat innocent animals in this country. Currently, a large-scale racket is operating in the sale of elephant meat in the manner of poaching.
Some countries in the world are using elephant meat to make capsules. In this way, a large-scale racket is currently operating in the world to make capsules from elephant meat and sell them to foreign markets. Due to this, no one is talking about the killing of elephants. No steps are being taken. This situation has arisen because of that elephant meat racket. We are asking the authorities why these elephant killings cannot be stopped. If Sri Lanka is clean, why is this not being cleaned?

ඇය එහිදී මෙසේ සඳහන් කළාය.
“අයවැය අස්සේ ඇඟ හිරිවැටෙන හෙළිදරව්වක් කියන්න තමයි අපි අද ආවේ. දැනට වනාන්තර වල සිටින අලි අවසන් ගමන් යවලා අලි මස්වලින් ටැබ්ලට් හදන ජාවාරමක් තමයි මේ අය සිදු කරන්නේ. රටේ පාලකයන්ට කොන්දක් නෑ. අනවසර විදුලි රැහැන් ඇදීම නිසා මේවන විට විශාල අලි ඇතුන් ප්රමාණයක් මියයනවා.
රක්ෂිත වනාන්තර ඇතුලේ අලිමංකඩ 16ක් තියනවා. අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ අලිමංකඩ 05ක් තියනවා. අලිමංකඩ අසල නිවාස හෝටල් සකස් කරනවා. එයට අවසරය දුන්නේ කව්ද? මේ නිවාස වලට විදුලිය සම්බන්ධතා ලබාදුන්නේ කව්ද? බරපතල සැකයක් තියනවා. 2023 වන විට අලි 75 ක් අනවසර විදුලි රැහැන් වලට ගැටී මියගොස් තිබෙනවා. මේ රටේ අහිංසක සතුන් මේ අය මරාගෙන කන්න කාටවත් අයිතියක් නෑ. මේ වන විට දඩමස් ආකාරයට අලි මස් විකිණිමේ මහාපරිමාණ ජාවාරමක් ක්රියාත්මක වෙනවා.
ලෝකයේ සමහර රටවල් අලි මස් උපයෝගිකරගෙන කරල් හදන ක්රම වේදයක් ක්රියාත්මක වෙනවා. මේ ආකාරයට අලි මස්වලින් කරල් සකස් කර විදෙස් වෙළෙද පොළට විකීණිමේ මහා ජාවාරමක් මේවන විට ලෝකයේ පවතනිවා. මේ නිසා අලි මරුවට කිසිවෙක් කතාකරන්නේ නෑ. කිසිදු පියවරක් ගන්නේ නෑ. අන්න ඒ අලි මස් ජාවාරම නිසා තමයි මේ තත්ත්වය උදාවෙලා තියෙන්නේ. අපි බලධාරින්ගෙන් අහන්නේ මේ අලි මරන එක නතරකරන්න බැරි ඇයි. ක්ලීන් ශ්රි ලංකා නම් ඇයි මේක ක්ලීන් කරන්නේ නැත්තේ
