It is reported that a method of obtaining loans without collateral for industrialists is to be introduced in this year’s budget.
It is said that a proposal to provide a grace period to start paying off loans obtained in this way has also been included in the budget.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma stated at the Committee on Ways and Means held in Parliament recently that these proposals will be seen in this year’s budget.
The Deputy Minister said that by increasing the country’s production, the people have been given the opportunity to earn the foreign exchange needed by the country and to be able to pay off at least a part of the existing debt, and it is the government’s responsibility to fulfill that objective.
The Committee had been convened to discuss the South Asian Free Trade Agreement.
The Export Development Board also participated in this discussion and the Deputy Minister stated that it is necessary to educate industrialists about the concessional programs that can be provided to them.

නියෝජ්ය ඇමැතිවරයා කියාසිටියේ, රටේ නිෂ්පාදනය වැඩි කිරීමෙන් රටට අවශ්ය විදේශ විනිමය උපයාගෙන පවතින ණය කන්දෙන් කොටසක් හෝ ගෙවීමේ හැකියාව ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා ජනතාව අවස්ථාව ලබා දී තිබෙන බව ද එම අරමුණ ඉටු කිරීම ආණ්ඩුවේ වගකීමක් බවයි.
එම කාරක සභාව කැඳවා තිබුණේ දකුණු ආසියානු නිදහස් වෙළෙඳ ගිවිසුම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කිරීම සඳහායි.
කර්මාන්තකරුවන්ට ලබා දිය හැකි සහනදායි වැඩපිළිවෙළවල් පිළිබඳව කර්මාන්තකරුවන් දැනුවත් කිරීම අවශ්ය බවඅපනයන සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය ද මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට එක්ව සිටි අතර නියෝජ්ය ඇමැතිවරයා සඳහන් කළා.
