Japan has provided a grant of 300 million yen (Rs. 565 million) to enhance the capacity of Sri Lanka’s waste management system under the “Clean Sri Lanka” program.
The relevant Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on (03) and was signed by Ms. Sayama (Ikuina) Akiko, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.
This grant will provide 28 compactor vehicles for waste transportation to improve the waste management capacity of local government institutions, of which 14 vehicles will be provided to the Western Province, 08 vehicles to the Eastern Province and 06 vehicles to the Northern Province.
Japan’s Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Sayama (Ikuina) Akiko, stated that due to the anti-corruption program being carried out by the current government, investment attraction from countries around the world is being directed towards Sri Lanka. The Vice Minister also stated that the Japanese government will continue to provide support to the program being carried out by the government regarding anti-corruption activities.
The Vice Minister also presented the congratulatory message of the Japanese Prime Minister to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its commitment to further strengthening the long-standing friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka.
Emphasizing that the anti-corruption program implemented by the current government will continue without compromising it in any way, the President also thanked the Japanese government for resuming development projects that were initiated in the country with the assistance of the Japanese government and which had stalled. He also expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the Japanese government in the debt restructuring process.
Expressing his gratitude to the Japanese government for providing employment opportunities to a large number of Sri Lankan workers, the President requested the Japanese government to provide assistance to further develop those opportunities in the future and to intervene in the implementation of a Japanese-assisted project to improve public transportation in Sri Lanka.

“ක්ලීන් ශ්රී ලංකා” වැඩසටහන යටතේ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ අපද්රව්ය කළමනාකරණ පද්ධතියෙහි ධාරිතාව වැඩි කිරීම සඳහා ජපානය විසින් යෙන් මිලියන 300ක (රුපියල් මිලියන 565ක්) ප්රදානයක් ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කර තිබේ.
මීට අදාළ අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුමට අත්සන් තැබීම ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා ඉදිරියේ ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේදී (03) වෙනිදා සිදු වූ අතර ජපානයේ විදේශ කටයුතු පිළිබඳ පාර්ලිමේන්තු උප අමාත්ය සයමා (ඉකුඉනා) අකිකෝ මහත්මිය සහ මුදල් අමාත්යාංශ ලේකම් මහින්ද සිරිවර්ධන මහතා ඊට අත්සන් තබන ලදී.
මෙම ප්රදානය මගින් පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවල අපද්රව්ය කළමනාකරණයෙහි ධාරිතාව වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම සඳහා කසල ප්රවාහනයට කම්පැක්ටර් රථ 28ක් සපයනු ලබන අතර, ඉන් බස්නාහිර පළාතට රථ 14ක්, නැගෙනහිර පළාතට රථ 08ක් සහ උතුරු පළාතට රථ 06ක් බැගින් ලබා දීමට නියමිතය.
වත්මන් රජය ගෙන යන දූෂණ විරෝධී වැඩපිළිවෙළ නිසා ලෝකයේ රටවල ආයෝජන ආකර්ෂණය ශ්රී ලංකාව වෙත යොමු වෙමින් තිබෙන බව ජපානයේ විදේශ කටයුතු පිළිබඳ පාර්ලිමේන්තු උප අමාත්ය සයමා (ඉකුඉනා) අකිකෝ මහත්මිය මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළාය. දූෂණ විරෝධී කටයුතු සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජය ගෙනයන වැඩපිළිවෙලට ඉදිරියටත් ජපාන රජයේ සහාය ලබාදීමට කටයුතු කරන බවද උප අමාත්යවරිය සඳහන් කළාය.
ජපාන අගමැතිවරයාගේ සුබ පැතුම් පණිවිඩයද උප අමාත්යවරිය මෙහිදී ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා වෙත පිළිගැන්වූවාය.
ජපානය හා ශ්රී ලංකාව අතර පවතින දිගු කාලීන මිත්රත්වය තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් කැප වී කටයුතු කිරීම පිළිබඳ ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මෙහිදී ජපාන රජය වෙත ස්තුතිය පළ කළේය.
වත්මන් රජය විසින් ක්රියාවට නංවා තිබෙන දූෂණ විරෝධී වැඩපිළිවෙළ කිසිදු අයුරකින් පළුදු නොකර ඉදිරියටත් ක්රියාත්මක කරන බව අවධාරණය කළ ජනාධිපතිවරයා ජපාන රජයේ ආධාර ඇතිව මෙරට ආරම්භ කර අතරමග නැවතුණු සංවර්ධන ව්යාපෘති නැවත ආරම්භ කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද ජපාන රජය වෙත ස්තුතිය පළ කළේය. එමෙන්ම ණය ප්රතිව්යුහගතකරණ ක්රියාවලියේදී ජපාන රජය ලබා දුන් සහාය වෙනුවෙන්ද කෘතවේදීත්වය පළ කළේය.
ශ්රී ලාංකික ශ්රමිකයින් විශාල පිරිසකට රැකියා අවස්ථා ලබාදීම පිළිබඳව ජපාන රජය වෙත ස්තූතිය පළ කළ ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඉදිරියේ දී එම අවස්ථා තවදුරටත් වර්ධනය කර ගැනීමට සහාය ලබා දෙන ලෙසත්, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පොදු ප්රවාහනය නංවාලීම සඳහා ජපාන ආධාර සහිත ව්යාපෘතියක් ක්රියාත්මක කිරීමට මැදිහත් වන ලෙසත් ජපාන රජයෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කළේය.
