The Director General of the Department of Census and Statistics, Mrs. Anoja Seneviratne, has informed the public that there should be no fear in providing the necessary information to the enumerators who visit homes for census purposes.
She made this statement while commenting on the reported situation of some homes not providing information to the enumerators who visit homes for census purposes.
Stating that the census is expected to be completed by December 23, the Director General said that the Department of Census and Statistics is collecting this information in accordance with the powers vested in it under the Census Ordinance and that this information will not be used to make personal decisions in any way.

සංගණන කටයුතු සඳහා නිවාස වෙත පැමිණෙන ගණන් ගැනීමේ නිලධාරීන්ට අවශ්ය තොරතුරු ලබාදීමට කිසිදු බියක් ඇති කරගත යුතු නැතැයි බව ජනලේඛන හා සංඛ්යා ලේඛන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල් අනෝජා සෙනෙවිරත්න මහත්මිය මහජනතාවට දැනුම්දී සිටියි.
සංගණන කටයුතු සඳහා පැමිණෙන නිලධාරීන්ට ඇතැම් නිවාසවලින් තොරතුරු ලබානොදීමේ තත්ත්වයක් වාර්තා වී තිබීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වමින් ඇය මේ බව සඳහන් කළාය.
එම සංගණන කටයුතු දෙසැම්බර් මස 23 වැනිදායින් අවසන් කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බව සඳහන් කළ අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරිය මෙම තොරතුරු රැස්කිරීම ජන ලේඛන හා සංඛ්යා ලේඛන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් සිදුකරනු ලබන්නේ සංගණන අඥාපනත යටතේ පැවැරී ඇති බලතල අනුව බවත් කිසිදු ආකාරයකින් පුද්ගලික මට්ටමේ තීන්දු තීරණ ගැනීමට මෙම තොරතරු භාවිතා නොකරන බවද පැවසුවාය.
