Three suspects, including a cashier and a driver, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard at the Sri Lanka Transport Board’s Nuwara Eliya depot and the theft of over Rs. 1 million.
The police had launched an investigation into the 85-year-old security guard who was hacked to death on December 6 and the theft of Rs. 1,052,167.
The victim has been identified as K. Logeswaran (85), a resident of Galpaya, Nuwara Eliya.
Police investigations revealed that money was stolen from a cabinet at the SLTB depot after the security guard was murdered.
Police say the suspects arrested are between the ages of 34 and 55.
Residents of Badulla and Mahawa areas have been remanded until December 19th after being produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.

ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරියා ඝාතනය කිරීමෙන් පසු ලංගම ඩිපෝවේ කැබිනට්ටුවකින් මුදල් සොරකම් කර ඇති බව පොලිස් පරීක්ෂණවලදී අනාවරණ විය.
අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරුවන් අවුරුදු 34ත් 55ත් අතර වයස්වල පසුවන්නන් බව පොලිසිය පවසයි.
බදුල්ල සහ මහව ප්රදේශවල පදිංචිකරුවන් ඔවුන් නුවරඑළිය මහේස්ත්රාත් අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව දෙසැම්බර් 19 වැනිදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කර තිබේ.
