Anudi Gunasekara, who represented Sri Lanka at the 72nd Miss World pageant held in India, has returned to the island today.
The finale was held in Hyderabad, Telangana, India on May 31st.
The Miss World pageant, which began recently with the participation of contestants from 108 countries around the world, was held under various categories.
Anudi Gunasekara, who competed for Sri Lanka in that pageant, lost the opportunity to enter the final 40.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s Miss World hopes were dashed.
Similarly, Anudi Gunasekara was able to show outstanding performance in the competitions held recently at the 72nd Miss World pageant and she was able to qualify for the final rounds in the Head to Head and Multimedia categories.
She also became the first Sri Lankan contestant in the country’s history to qualify for the finals in those categories.
72 වැනි ලෝක රූ රැජින තරගයට ගිය අනුදි ගුණසේකර දිවයිනට
ඉන්දියාවේ පැවති 72 වැනි ලෝක රූ රැජින තරගය සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාව නියෝජනය කළ අනුදි ගුණසේකර අද යළි දිවයිනට පැමිණ තිබේ.
එහි අවසන් මහා තරගය පසුගිය මැයි මස 31 වැනිදා ඉන්දියාවේ තෙලඟනා හි හයිද්රාබාද් නුවර දී පැවැත්වුණි.
ලොව පුරා රටවල් 108ක තරගකාරිණියන් සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පසුගියදා ආරම්භ වූ ලෝක රූ රැජිණ තරගාවලිය විවිධ අංශ යටතේ පැවැත්විණි.
එම තරගයේදී ශ්රී ලංකාව වෙනුවෙන් තරග කළ අනුදි ගුණසේකරට අවසන් 40 දෙනා අතර පිවිසීමේ හැකියාව අහිමි විය.
ඒ අනුව, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ලෝක රූ රැජින බලාපොරොත්තුව බිඳවැටුණි.
එමෙන්ම 72වැනි ලෝක රූ රැජින තරගාවලියේදී පසුගිය දා පැවැති තරගවලින් කැපී පෙනෙන දක්ෂතා දැක්වීමට අනුදි ගුණසේකර සමත්වූ අතර හෙඩ් ටු හෙඩ් සහ මල්ටිමීඩියා අංශවල අවසන් වටයන් සඳහා සුදුසුකම් ලබාගැනීමට ඇය සමත් වුවාය.
ඒ මෙරට ඉතිහාසයේ පළමුවරට එම අංශවලින් අවසන් වටයන් සඳහා සුදුසුකම් ලැබූ පළමු ශ්රී ලාංකික තරගකාරිනිය බවටද පත්වෙමිනි.
