The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (26) ordered the release on bail of former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who is remanded on suspicion of importing a substandard organic fertilizer ship during the previous government.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali issued this order after considering the arguments presented by the Bribery Commission and the defense lawyers.
Accordingly, she ordered the suspect to be released on a cash bail of fifty thousand rupees and five sureties of one million rupees each.
The order also stated that two of the sureties should be close relatives.
In addition, the suspect was banned from traveling abroad and the Magistrate ordered that his passport be surrendered to the court.
The Magistrate further ordered the suspect to refrain from influencing witnesses and to provide necessary assistance to the investigations.

ඒ අනුව සැකකරු රුපියල් පනස් දහසක මුදල් ඇප සහ රුපියල් මිලියනය බැගින් වූ ශරීර ඇප පහක් මත මුදා හැරීමට නියම කළාය.
එම ඇපකරුවන් අතරින් දෙදෙනෙකු ළඟම ඥාතීන් විය යුතු බවත් නියෝගයේ සඳහන් විය.
ඊට අමතරව සැකකරුගේ විදේශ ගමන් තහනම් කෙරුණු අතර විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්රය අධිකරණයට භාරදිය යුතු බවටත් මහෙස්ත්රාත්වරිය නියෝග කළාය.
එමෙන්ම සාක්ෂිකරුවන්ට බලපෑම් කිරීමෙන් වළකින ලෙසත් විමර්ශනවලට අවශ්ය සහාය ලබා දෙන ලෙසත් වැඩිදුරටත් මහෙස්ත්රාත්වරිය විසින් සැකකරුට නියෝග කළාය.
