The Railway Control Room says that trains will run as per the normal schedule today.
This comes after the one-day symbolic strike initiated by the Railway Station Masters’ Association ended at midnight yesterday (17).
Station Masters and train controllers are currently reporting for duty, said the Chairman of the Railway Station Masters’ Association, Sumedha Somaratne.
He stated that a further discussion will be held tomorrow (19) regarding the trade union issues and a decision will be taken on future trade union action.
The Railway Station Masters’ Association began the strike demanding solutions to several issues in the recruitment and promotion process.
Despite the strike, steps were taken to operate about 90 train services yesterday.
