The Railway Station Masters’ Association says that it will take immediate trade union action in the next 24 hours due to the lack of solutions to several of its problems.
Accordingly, even from the previous governments, their demands had to be won through strikes, and although this government was given a reasonable time, and some time has passed since three elections, no positive intervention has been made to address their problems, said Sumedha Somaratne, Chairman of the Railway Station Masters’ Association, addressing a media briefing held today (16).
Although the President has asked the trade unions not to make any demands, he also stated that there are a number of problems including not taking decisions to normalize their promotion and recruitment methods, which are not a burden on the government, and not providing the foreign training that should be provided.
He further stated that the Minister has not yet given them an opportunity to discuss their issues, and that although the Deputy Minister has made some interventions, they do not appear to be working, and that as a result, they will resort to immediate trade union action in the next twenty-four hours or beyond, and that they regret the inconvenience caused to the people.

ඒ අනුව පැවති රජයයන් වෙතින් පවා සිය ඉල්ලීමි දිනා ගැනීමට සිදුවුණේ වැඩ වර්ජනවලින් බවත්, මෙම රජයට සාධාරණ කාලයක් ලබා දුන්නද, මැතිවරණ තුනක් අවසන් වී යම් කාලයක් ගතවී ඇතත්, සිය ගැටලු සඳහා සාධනීය මැදිහත්වීමක් සිදුකර නොමැති බවයි අද (16) පැවති මාධ්ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් දුම්රිය ස්ථානාධිපතිවරුන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති සුමේධ සෝමරත්න සඳහන් කළේ.
ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෘත්තීය සමිතිවලට කිසිවක් ඉල්ලීම් නොකරන ලෙස සඳහන් කළ ද, රජයට බරක් නොවන සිය උසස්වීම් හා බඳවාගැනීමේ ක්රමවේද යථාවත් කිරීම සඳහා තීන්දු නොගැනීම, ලබාදිය යුතු විදේශීය පුහුණුවීම් ලබා නොදීම ඇතුළු ගැටලු ගණනාවක් පවතින බව ද ඔහු ප්රකාශ කළා.
සිය ගැටලු සම්බන්ධයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට අමාත්යවරයා මේ වන තෙක් අවස්ථාවක් ලබාදී නොමැති බවත්, නියෝජ්ය අමාත්යවරයා යම් යම් මැදිහත්වීම් සිදුකළ ද ඒවා ඉටුවන ආකාරයක් පෙනෙන්නට නොමැති බවත්, මේ හේතුවෙන් එළඹෙන පැය විසිහතර හෝ ඉන් ඔබ්බට ක්ෂණික වෘත්තීය ක්රියාමාර්ගයකට යොමුවන බවත්, ජනතාවට සිදුවන අපහසුතාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් කණගාටුවට පත්වන බවයි ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කර සිටියේ.
