The Excise Department has issued a statement informing that liquor outlets will be closed in view of the Vesak festival organized in conjunction with the Vesak Poya Day.
Accordingly, the Excise Department has announced that liquor outlets will be closed for 3 days from May 12th to May 14th.
Excise Commissioner General Udaya Kumara Perera stated that all liquor outlets should be closed from the night of May 11th until the scheduled opening time on May 15th.
The statement issued in this regard is as follows:
වෙසක්වලට බාර් වහනවා
වෙසක් පොහෝ දිනයට සමගාමීව සංවිධානය කර ඇති වෙසක් මහෝත්සවය නිමිත්තෙන් මත්පැන් අලෙවි කිරීමේ බලපත්ර ස්ථාන වසා තබන බව සුරාබදු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් දැනුම් දී තිබෙනවා.
ඒ අනුව මැයි 12 සහ මැයි 14 දින දක්වා දින 3ක් මත්පැන් අලෙවි සැල් වසා තබන බවයි සුරාබදු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව දැනුම් දෙන්නේ.
එනෙන්ම මැයි 11 දින රාත්රීයේ සිට මැයි 15 දින විවෘත කිරීමට නියමිත වේලාව දක්වා සියලුම මත්පැන් අලෙවි සැල් වසා තැබිය යුතු බවයි සුරාබදු කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල් උදය කුමාර පෙරේරා මහතා සඳහන් කළා.
